Quote: yes setting the entire machine at a slight angle. it has to turn in two directions because it moves forward and reverse? My gut tells me its the angle of the egg! I would test this if I had the machine as long as it still rolls and turns well. @casportpony
CONGRATS!!! wow so much better than mine!!! the eggs look pretty I think!!! so happy yours look good!! so sad for my duckies booo whoooo
Well, I just euthanized that last chick that I helped out. He was not doing well, could not stand or use his legs at all (both completely folded up toward his head), breathing fast. I used the baking soda/vinegar CO2 chamber method - it was quick. It was sad, but not as sad as the thought of watching him suffer, which he most assuredly would have. And now I know how to do it using this method. I considered scissors, but opted for this instead.
The second chick was looking perkier, so he got yet another bath under running warm water to get the sticky stuff off, but is looking better - once dry, I will move him to the brooder tonight. He's had a delay in eating and drinking (tried to put in Grogel, he hasn't eaten any) - he will need to make it in the group. We will see if he survives overnight. I have a full day of work tomorrow - he'll need to make it through on his own.

awww sweets, Kristin you did the right thing. I am glad you could do it, its a very sad part of incubation but it comes with it hand in hand. sucks I am sorry
I have10 WH duck eggs being shipped to me next week. Is there a site I can read that will help me prepare the eggs for incubating?
thanks
DUCKS awesome Cyndi!!!! I pray your air cells are fine!! Cant wait to see your eggs!! I washed mine in the bleach solution and hot water as I always did, but the air cells are terrible!!
see if you can find help below!!
Awh man I'm sorry about your chicks.
I didn't want to make a thread just to say that my first little baby chick hatched!! Now I'm anxious to make sure he/she doesn't burn to death under the heat lamp or die for some unknown reason. I've only got two eggs ready right now (started with 6 and they were my test eggs) but it doesn't hatch for the next 2 days.
@kissofcrimson Congrats on the baby!! we would love chic pictures Welcome to the thread!! what bator are you using? you have found this info from the thread?
