thanks, I'm selling them in small groups to people who are only going to keep a closed flock for eggs.
My only concern is what to do with my Lavender Orpington trio. Given the value of the roo and two young hens and their eggs I don't know if I can sell them and trust they won't be used for breeding.
There's a godd possibility of that happening. If nothing else, you can do what I did to my pair of lavender orp hens... put them down and burn the carcasses. I wasn't going to be responsible for spreading disease.

@ChickenCanoe , I love all sports.

Maybe @Sally Sunshine can explain it for me.
I love MOST sports. A few I can't do/observe or enjoy.

Amen, brother. Used to love when SF & the 'Skins went head-to-head; I knew it would be a shoot out between Montana & Theiseman
That was an ugly open fracture for all to see when Theiseman got tackled.

I loved when SF played Miami in Super Bowl XIX. Everyone was betting on Marino and those two wide receivers, Clayton and Duper. I just said, "those 3 guys can't beat a whole team. SF was spectacular in all aspects of the game. It was no contest.

...and check for new eggs b4 they crack
That's the toughest part.

..

morning sweets!!!

I used to have a friend at the factory who was my journeyman. He was older and crankier than I. They called him Harry the Sweets.

good day to you all! EYS!

Snack, somone?

Looks almost like my bin of rescued restaurant scraps.

I weighed it before I started doling it out. It was 32 lbs.. I guess I was feeling stronger after winning my games when I guessed 20 lbs. last night.

Frog legs, crab, scallops, clams, salmon, catfish, cod, chicken, spare ribs, broccoli, green beans, potatoes, wontons, egg rolls, California rolls, glass noodles and so much more. It smelled so good the Pomeranian really wanted onto the back porch.
It's amazing how much food Americans waste.
I put several scoops in the chickens' regular FF tubs, topped by a couple dollops of fermented feed. They have dry feed in each coop that they eat when they first get up in the morning.
I saw some 13% protein game bird maintenance feed at Farm&Home when I was there last. I may get a couple bags to offset the huge protein glut in this free food - especially for the roosters.
I'm probably going to try to freeze some in case the free stuff doesn't continue.

Guess what I'm going to set today?

My first pea egg of the season! Doubt it's fertile, but I'll try.

-Kathy
Why don't you open it to see if it's fertile.

You're pretty safe taking that bet. Unless the date I set them as 0 or 8, then I suppose you could call those circles.

I (and my niece if she gathers the eggs) put a code on certain eggs when they are gathered to ID the breed or line. Then I write the set date on top of the egg when it goes into the tray. That way I can move the eggs if needed to consolidate multiple weeks into a single tray. I keep a google spreadsheet with a line for each breed and date, all totaled so I can track the fertility and hatch percentages by setting and breed. That's how I know the Welsummers are hatching a lot better this year, but the black sexlink hybrids were not working with the new roo (he's been replaced by the experienced guy from last year.
That's a good program. I put a number on the small end of each egg. That number gets entered in a spreadsheet or notebook. That number corresponds to the lay date, weight, depth of color, sire and sometimes dam, set date, etc.. I only have one breed so it's a bit easier but there is so much to select for with this breed and a tiny gene pool. Egg color, shape, size, white earlobe, carnation comb, slate legs, horn of ox beak, etc..

For those that don't know, Penedesencas and Empordanesas (both from Catalonia) are the only breeds with a white earlobe that lay a brown egg.

Me also. Got his autograph. He owns car lots here in Knoxville.

No offense to the Nascar and other racing sports fans. I guess I just don't get it.
I'm big on sports that don't have to cost a lot of money to participate in. Fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming, canoeing, soccer (futbol), football, baseball and the exception on cost is snow skiing. The only basketball I like is little league and sometimes college. I'm not tall and can't play so maybe that's the reason. My son, although just as short was a great player and I loved watching him play.

well, I could at least let someone eat them, but as these two were named after friends who are overseas as prayer reminders I don't want to eat them.
