you did the float test?WHAT did I do??? The last 14 in bator that had not piped in over 15 hours so I candled. I pulled 4 and was 100% sure they were quitters. Well 3 were.![]()

I am planning on calling IW on Tuesday - I might try on Monday, see if they are open. Thanks for the info!! I have just used bleach and water to clean the bators. I'll try the dawn!!!I used 3 separate, calibrated thermometers in my incuview... and the built-in thermometer was 1.2F low. If you're talking about the incuview,... the temp can easily be altered. Same with egg turning. I didn't know this because the instructions are very vague, but a phone call to IW cleared up a lot of questions. I had some temp spikes on the first batch... 2F high and 2F low, but they never lasted long enough to harm the eggs. The second batch only had 1F high and 1F low swings.
Without a microscope, it'll be hard to detect bacteria. A weak bleach solution should suffice followed by complete drying. To be honest, I didn't go to much trouble to clean mine in the week between first hatch and second setting. I used anti-bacterial Dawn to wash the bottom tray, turner, and mesh... and Windex to clean the lid. I used a toothbrush to remove dander from the fan screen, and fired it back up. I ran my temp a little higher (100F) the second batch, and got 100% hatch on day 20. I trusted the extra thermometers to show the right temps, and I depended on my IncuTherm Plus (along with re-calibrated bator hygro) to show the right RH. It worked... It's tricky to adjust the stock hygro, but it can be done by removing it from the lid, popping off the back plate, and turning the plate that holds the spring in place. The trickiest part is doing all that super quickly as soon as it comes out of the salt test bag...
You had me until I got to the work CURDS.... Ghost pepper cheese, yum. Curds, not so much....
I'm so sorry! I did that last hatch! I just did a quick float test on my day 22 eggs, all were viable, but only 3 wiggled. They all went back in the 'bator. I'll wait a few more days.WHAT did I do??? The last 14 in bator that had not piped in over 15 hours so I candled. I pulled 4 and was 100% sure they were quitters. Well 3 were.![]()
