I had a nice Boer buck for a while. Loaned him to a friend to cover his does, but his dogs killed him through the fence.  I never got any of his kids from my Alpines
I send my boers to a Boer kiko cross buck for hardiness. The only buck I have is a pure blood Saanen for my Saanen does.

do you like my Boer doe? She was six months old in that picture. She is due to kid in March. I am excited.
Yes. Both my Nigerians are breed. One next month and the other 2 months after. These pics were awhile back. Both r as wide as a semi. HAHA. The bigger ones utters are filling up nicely.

Nice. I have five due to kid March (3) (1) April, and (1) May. 2 Saanen,1 Nubian, 1 boer, and a Boer kiko cross,
My friend owns the cross doe I posted and she looks like she swallowed a hot air balloon.

HAHA. I need more does!!! Would like one more buckling. Have a wether and 1 buck. Wanted cows but dont have enough land. So got the next best thing for milk. These goats have the best tasting milk out of any goat.

I am guessing Nubians. Around 1-2 months.
Ears are to short for a true Nubian. I looked at the pic too fast, was doing something else. Are they weaned. If so at least 2 months. If not younger. Nubian Boer
I don't know if they're weaned or not? They were at the auction because their nanny was attacked by a dog. So I guess not weaned. My brain flew into panic mode and I forgot everything I've tried to learn. I swear I've been reading for a month, at least. I was just expecting to buy with more info.

Thank you Sally for the extra info on unhatched eggs. I do have one egg without a pip so I will read all of this just in case. It is only day 20 and chicks only started hatching at 6 pm last night so I am trying to be patient as I have been reading on this thread for the last few days.

Also thanks for mentioning your rooster and frostbite. One of mine got frostbite yesterday. It was 16 below with 39 below wind chill. He was not exposed to the wind but he has big wattles and being inexperienced I did not realize they were dragging in the water when he drank...
your very welcome! Let us know how it comes out! oh and Plenty of pictures!
I switched all my metal feeders and watereeres out. the old school ones are card on them in the winter
Never feed a warm feed to them during a cold spell either, it will give their wattles frost bit everytime. I thought one year I was doing them good feeding their mash wet and warm with oatmeal and all their wattles event the girls got it! I have too many to grab and slather Vaseline on all the time. plus they are not my friends so they are hard to get even in the coop at night they can be boogers

Quote: she and her daddy made the first incubator we have whites, she has been into it, just never let her do this part before.

Not sure i agree with that quote. I do things I think is right, and was totally wrong.

So are you bottle feeding them?

Good morning, all!

I screwed up quoting, so I will try to do this from memory:

@daxigait
 - yeah, I had an ankle injury like that, torn ligaments, super technicolor. Took a while to heal, but totally fine now. I'd love to say it happened while I was saving a baby in a stroller form an oncoming 18 wheeler... but I slipped in the parking lot.:/

Thanks for the several of you who gave input on the hanging waterer. It's too hot here to rely entirely on nipple waterers in the summer (at least that makes me nervous - so I always like to have a second water source).

Whoever it was who said that they were timing their next hatch to occur DURING work, so that it would happen on its own (and less risk of wanting to do something) - I think you're on to something. I may try that once I get my temps and humidity corrected (and don't have all the malpos).

Shellee (sp?) thank you for sharing the wonderful story about your father. :hugs

@Sally Sunshine
 , I'm glad you're feeling better.

Benny, now I'm hungry for spaghetti and meatballs!!! But it's 10AM!!! :he

Thanks for the get well wishes for my foot - it truly is mostly inconvenient/irritating, rather than severely painful, and I was just grumping about it. I rested a lot yesterday, but had chicken chores this morning that HAD to be done. I have the day off, and so I really need to take the opportunity today to get the lumber for the growout pens/tractors that I will be building. Once the lumber's here, I can do the sanding sitting down. While one will be a growout pen (so I have a couple weeks), one needs to be finished ASAP because I have some Speckled Sussex at 17 weeks who are in a little coop that is now too small for them (they roam in a paddock all day to mitigate this, but LOVE to escape!). They need a forever home and a boyfriend - Tank the Naked Neck (who stays in his paddock all day long) now escapes to roost on top of their coop (to watch over them) EVERY SINGLE NIGHT now. So there's some urgency to get this done.

Sourdough bread for the week is on second rise. Once done, I'll go on my lumber run. I also have to set up the NN paddock today. I have the egg eater in a crate in the NN coop for the day while I try to nail down who's laying what (thin-shelled-wise), running out to check nest boxes frequently (in case any of the others get bad ideas). So much to do...

Happy happy day, all!
