One more question, when I went home and checked it on lunch it was at the highest on 100.4 it seems to keep fluctuating and sometimes high is 99.7 and some times it goes higher. Should I still adjust a tad to make warmer or see what happens. This is so nerve racking!

Thanks to @sallysunshine for all your articles and advice, and to others here sharing your experiences! We hatched in a bator for the first time and got a 100% hatch rate (we set 9 eggs)!! We used a used basic still air Hovabator I got off of Craigslist and built our own hand turner. We didn't actually plan on it, but we ended up with Valentine babies!!!

@Wendy Highcheck out the broody hen thread, most people on the thread so the hen will stay with the eggs till she thinks they're done and or the babies that have hatched need to be mothered. Most will stay for a day or so and some people keep an incubator on hand in case she leaves and some of the eggs are still alive when you candle them.

Just set 4 marans and 2 OE. They will go into lockdown the day before the easter hatch goes in. I'm hoping to get at least one marans and OE hen to add to my own flock.

The hotter the better.
Favorite tequila - Herradura Anejo. It isn't the most expensive but what a lot of Mexicans who live in the states of Nayarit and Jalisco prefer. Pure blue agave grown in the central lowlands aged 25 months in white oak barrels.
I'm not a fan of hard liquor and rarely drink it but if I do, that's it.

My old still air LG I had good hatch rates, but they were always late. So, AFTER I switched to the Incuview, I upped the temps in my day 1 - 18 'bator to run closer to 100 - 101. In the Incuview I only had 1 chick out of 26 hatch, and it hatched on day 22/23 - it hatched over night.

I grow LOTS of hot peppers, love them in food, but would never consider eating one by itself. Just tried fermenting peppers this year. They are looking good! Have been fermenting about 4 months now. Not sure what I'm going to do with all of it - hot sauce maybe? Tequila (te-kill-ya)....I stay away.

That tells me your temps are always low, not knowing anything else about what's going on. Try doing everything as you are but run everything one degree higher.

I always plant cayenne, habanero, Serrano, poblano and Anaheim, each year I'll try others.

Hogs aren't hard and there is little waste. As was suggested, check out youtube videos.

FOR ALL WHO INCUBATE - THINK ABOUT THIS.

Temperature readings are going to fluctuate unless you have an incubator that regulates temperature by incrementally applying power to the heat element/s and responds instantaneously.
Otherwise, the power will either be in an on or off state. It maintains temperature in a range. There's a high setpoint
where the power is turned off and a low setpoint when the power is turned on.
Then the other variable is how often the thermometer samples. Most sample every few minutes. If it samples just before the power is cut, the reading will be high. If it samples just before the power is applied, it will read low.
Another variable is if your thermometer is an instant read - sampling every few seconds.
In the latter case, you'll watch the temperature climb quickly and fall slowly.
The internal egg temperature will be close to the low end of those temperature swings.

I find that a hen won't get off the nest for any reason once hatching is imminent. She strays from her normal daily foray because it is a critical time to sit tight.

No because I am sleeping. I check it every 15 min when I am home to make sure its staying in the same range. This is my first hatch so trying to be over cautious about it all.
