No because I am sleeping. ;) I check it every 15 min when I am home to make sure its staying in the same range. This is my first hatch so trying to be over cautious about it all.
ok wasnt sure if you had a thermo hygro that keeps track of highs and lows

One more question, when I went home and checked it on lunch it was at the highest on 100.4 it seems to keep fluctuating and sometimes high is 99.7 and some times it goes higher. Should I still adjust a tad to make warmer or see what happens. This is so nerve racking!

do you know what it does in the middle of the night?

And what about the chicken? Do you think she is mesuraing temp and hum.?
And still we have chickens for millennia!

Did you go to USC??

Yes I did... You?

I worked there (well at LA children's hospital which is part of USC ) for a bit when I first came to the U.S., but now my eldest is there studying architecture. She totally LOVES it, especially being part of the marching band.
What did you study?

I am using a hygro/therm but not sure if it keeps track? There wasnt much info with the hygro it was just thrown in the box with the bator. What should I look for to see if it has that feature? Its currently in the bator

Speaking of hot peppers I should start my jalapeno and thai chili seeds.

Grounded hot chili, in your chicken feed 1-3 tbs for 1 kg, will make a wonderful worms preventer, and the Kapseacin in it will give a boost the the chicken metabolism! And the bonus is wonderful orange-red yolk!

@Wendy Highcheck out the broody hen thread, most people on the thread so the hen will stay with the eggs till she thinks they're done and or the babies that have hatched need to be mothered. Most will stay for a day or so and some people keep an incubator on hand in case she leaves and some of the eggs are still alive when you candle them.

It took some searching, but I did finally find info on momma hens in the behavior section. And checked out some links Sally posted. Am going to be patient with momma hen and give her more time. Thank you for the addtl info. This site has been fantastic and very helpful.

I am sure when you first hatched (if you ever have) you also were nervous. And when you spend $40 on eggs you want them to hatch.

If you're referring to me, I'm not saying not to be nervous, especially with expensive eggs. I just want people to understand why their temperatures appear to swing.

Just don't disturb her in this critical time. Check back tomorrow or the next day. All will be well.
