Gotta watch those guys, and others like them. I once got a bill from Baltimore City for an unpaid traffic ticket. Not only had I not been anywhere near Baltimore on the date in question, but I wouldn't have been there in that vehicle even if I had. Turns out the tag # was right, but the truck was an entirely different make & model than mine, & my truck was still carrying both tags. Clearly a clerical error on Baltimore's end.
I once had my American Express bill sent to a new address in Baltimore (is this a coincidence).
They swore that I had called them and asked to have my address changed. It took me a long time to convince them that I not only didn't have an address In Baltimore but I had never been to Baltimore. It was a mess.

Does chasing them away work?

If I get them to progress down the Mississippi flyway it works. But there's another cemetery next door with lakes and a city park up the street with lakes so they like to just hang around in the neighborhood.
We try to keep them disrupted enough so they don't decide to nest in the cemetery.
The problem with hundreds of geese is that they pave all the walking areas with feces. The bereaved and management don't appreciate that. They also eat all the new plantings.

@ChickenCanoe if you had ms unless you got rid of them you still have it and it passes through eggs too. I lost a young pullet, had many get sick. My favorite may not get well, I will have to cull the Lavender Orpington trio because I can't trust someone won't breed and pass it on, the rest have been or are being sold tonight to backyard people who just want eggs and who have said they won't breed or sell them to the uninformed.
I am going to miss this bunch.

I'm sure you're right but it hasn't created a health problem yet and when I spoke with the Uiversity of Missouri pathologist, he didn't seem like he thought it was a big issue.
I plan on talking to him again next week.

The coop fairy is out of the hospital as of this afternoon but she doesn't look well.

Anyone that wants to pay my bills - feel free.

To see if marker pens kill embryos?
With the shell and then the outer membrane, I don't think a few strokes from an ultrafine marker can penetrate enough to be an issue.

Hi there! Personally, I like to think of it as gaining a year... not losing a year!

I have a bator build in mind, but in no hurry to proceed with the mini "refigerbator". I scored a dead mini fridge and gutted it. Will be able to fit a couple of egg turners in, but will have to trim off a row on each turner since the fridge is only 15 1/2"W x 13"D. The Hova-Bator 1611 is 15" x 15" x 3" and holds 41 eggs, but by removing the end row(s), each will only hold 34 eggs. This setup will still be able to incubate 68 eggs simultaneously, which is probably more than I'll be setting at at once for quite awhile. I'll be trimming off the door shelves and adding dual glasses to the front.

The refrigerbator shell:

Thanks to the tip by @MotorcycleChick I swang by Wal-Mart this evening and picked up some icing buckets to make water containers out of. The (roughly) 3 gallon food grade buckets (w/lids) cost $1 each, and I would have bought several more but they only had 4 available. They're sturdy plastic, so they'll have no trouble accepting horizontal poultry nipples...

Count me in with the busy crowd.
That's a nice score.
I can get all the pickle buckets I need. I use them for seed, grain, feed, water and fermented feed storage.

Hello to you too.

It was a miserably hectic day where I got about 10% done of what I scheduled. But I still feel good for what I did.

:th I helped someone? Whoaaaaaa!   Seriously. Glad I was able to help.

And there is the answer to the question.

And what's the question to the answer?

The one to which I said had been answered.

And what's the question to the answer?

Times two..... and what kind of cold medicine are you taking to boot? I need some.

It's more the lack of medicine. Duckling was very sick yesterday, and now today I feel like garbage.

Wow. One day...

You don't have to wait. You can pick up the buckets today! Just go by the bakery and ask for icing buckets!!!   :lau

Don't let it go to your head... but yes, you helped tremendously!!!   :bow

That was mighty nice of Duckling to share with you. It's always entertaining chatting with somebody as weird as me. :weee

@ChickenCanoe the poultry guy at MO AG department says 70-90% of backyard flocks have some form of mycoplasma so if you just had a mild strain or any strain it is too common to really be able to worry about. At least until something of what they are working on can help deal with it especially considering it can come from so many sources.
I am glad you have not had a bad strain.

Our local pond is infested with Canada Geese, 'specially in nesting season. Like in your case, they create a terrible mess. The town finally employed the services of a pest removal man. He showed up with a canoe, a herding dog, and a remote control motorboat. If the geese are on land, he sends the dog to harass them. If on the water, he pesters them with the rc boat. Never saw how he uses the canoe. After 3-4 trips, the geese find another place to hang for a while. He may have to come back for another series, but it's pretty effective.

Maybe if there's someone with such a dog, you could pick up a rc boat and do the same thing; no need to hire it done.
