Hi Kathy! I was just doing more research on Cocci. Such a bad disease, neighbors have it and I'm helping them get over it.

Hey Cyndi, I test my thermometers by ice testing them, and 32 degrees means they are perfect. Anything above or below is how many degrees your thermometer is off by. Here's the link to the website I first used-
http://virtualweberbullet.com/testing-thermometers-for-accuracy.html

The boiling one is pretty hard, and the ice one is really easy. Just swirl the water around every couple minutes is what I do. Then I let it settle and read after a while. Hope this helps you, obviously you can't test the bator itself, but at least you will know if it's off.

THANKS FOR THE SITE... I calibrated my thermometers already.
My Q is: which thermometer do I gage my temp at?
I have been leaving it where I have it set at because the hygometer/therm are at 97 degrees. I am shooting for 98.5..

from what i could tell our remaining 7 eggs looked good at final candling on day 18. Today is day 19, I've been looking for movement all day, I shined a flashlight through the plastic to get a better look, and I swear one of them moved. Do they react to light or am I loosing it? We are so excited for babies!!!!

Incubation temps are supposed to be 99.5 degrees. When you calibrated them, did you do the ice water one? This is the same for all of he methods, but for ice water, the thermometer will go down to 32 degrees exactly if it is perfectly on point. If one of your thermometers reads 31, then your thermometer is -1 degree off. I write the difference on my thermometers. So if it reads 90, you know that temperature is actually 91.
