@Sally Sunshine and @LittleLakePhil : Sorry to hear that your lungs aren't behaving.

This very week we are covering respiratory infections with eh first year medical students (previous week was chronic respiratory diseases). In addition to making sure they understand the nuts and bolts of the causes and treatments of the diseases, we take a lot of time to make sure they understand the kind of impact that chronic respiratory issues/diseases have on a person's life and their daily activities.

(Do you guys wear a mask when cleaning coops or brooders? You probably should - just sayin')

I only clean the pallet coops that I dont have to go into, and yes a good mask but even then its tough on me. I get bad no matter how little of a cold I get. I hate steroids and treatments but they keep me alive I guess. This time I watch the clock for when I can have another and pray the orals start working. Thank you Kristin.

@Sally Sunshine - Sorry, another tag just to ask - did you ever figure out your sourdough bread issue? Tonight's batch:

Looks done! But is it done? How can I be sure?! I've pulled bread out that looked like this before, and it was all gummy and horrible inside! (Seriously, I did that for years):

Yup, it's done.

I think yours looks amazing!! I will try the temp like you suggested, I keep getting them out too soon, I see yours is dark, I am always afraid I am overbaking, now I see I am wrong as usual!! will try again and again until it works! thankyou!!

yer silly, the articles in the notes explain things better than I ever could

Quote: As long as you have ladder like ripped pcs of wood for footing you can get the ramp as steep as you need it, just dont go too crazy the more angle the bigger/thicker pcs of wood you may need.

This one looks fairly steep and I would think would work better with bigger slats or limbs!!

This addition nest box works because of the large overhang above, HOWEVER, I would add a rubber FLAP from the wall of the coop out over the nest box to prevent leakage into the boxes. doesnt need attached to the nest box just the wall of the coop and then long enough to send the water down past that seam. I would caulk the top seam of the rubber after you screw it on.

Good morning all sorry haven't been on in a few days been fighting the bug going around and got super busy at work. All 4 of the grocery store chicks are doing well except 1 I believe has pasty but. Could someone link the article for it. I miss conversing with you all and trying to catch up daily!

Oh and @Sally Sunshine

the one above does that.
@kwhites634 I can live with four foot, otherwise it is a bunch more hardware cloth.
This is a pic of the 6x6 coop (8x8 is still under construction but can get pic later) egg door is on back of coop (right side of pic and not visible) and poop door is on front (left side of pic)

Ok I caught up incubation is going well temp has fluctuated a little here and there but today I got home from work and it was 95 so I slowly increased the temp back up things will probably be fine going to candle tomorrow night again I did a quick spot candle a few nights ago and had found a 13th viable egg
I also picked up 12 baby meat birds too last week

good Luck with the candle!! glad you got temps under control!
Dear friends, I'm new in this thread but knew little about hatching. One of my turkeys laid about ten (10) eggs & refused to hatch them. Pls how can I incubate & hatch them or better still how do I handle such situation in future.
@Olufemi Muftau If you need more help that the notes please dont hesitate to ask!

UPDATE:

I have pulled extremely helpful NOTES, LINKS &

Informational Post Links from this entire thread

for EVERYONE'S convenience and will continue to put them HERE:

The downward facing egg started zipping around 1:30 - 2:00am it has gone almost halfway it's still moving I see it's beak come in and out.

We had a 2nd egg start zipping around 3am and now....we have a chick!!! So cute!

I am worried about the one that isn't out of it's shell yet. Hoping it will work it's way out.

This is the egg that's still zipping!
