ANYONE deal with Wry NECK???? First time for me after all the chicks I hatched!!! dang its that pretty dark brown Silkie!!!! going to look at our notes and internet tag me if you treated it please!
I dealt with it a couple of years ago. Little Dom Roo from MMc. I didn't notice it until he was down. I thought he'd be a goner by morning, but he was cold and unresponsive, but still alive. By then, I'd done a bit of research and formulated a treatment plan. I nicked a Vitamin E caplet open, and was able to get a bit into him. Added Selenium on day 2 of treatment. Was hand feeding (not tubing) a thin gruel of Kaytee baby bird hand feeding formula, and started mixing the Vit E and Selenium (and Poultry Nutri-Drench) into that. Day 1, I had to give him total support, and dribble gruel/meds into the side of his mouth every hour. Day 2, he was able to hold his head up. Day 3, he was able to stand. Day 4 he was perching. By the end of the first week, I had a hard time catching him, or telling him apart from his siblings for treatment. He went on to develop severe scoliosis and congestive heart failure.
