For all the plant lovers in this thread, we visited today a natural reserve near home, in this reserve grows a flower that grow only there in the all world! This flower is the crimson Iris , Iris atrpurpurea that now is in full flowering now!

I was gone all day yesterday....spent some quality time on the ice....was a beautiful day here...in the 30's....wore my tennis shoes out there....didn't have a flashlight so got real interesting after dark...couldn't find my tip ups....truck....when it gets dark up here gets real dark....no lights around....no moon last night.....a billion stars though.....:)

Thanks! I'm still waiting on the Brabanter eggs. They apparently need to incubate over a day longer than the Pavlovskaya. Now that I know this I won't mix Brabanter eggs with other eggs again. The Easter HAL will be only Brabanter-hopefully 15.
My brabanter eggs hatched on day 20. It's actually quite a challenge to find brabanters that are actually the way they're supposed to be. I got a roo with no beard and he has wattles. heterozygous for the crest too

I'm going to be hatching from several sources and hope to get several good birds to work with. My last attempt resulted in 0/9 chicks. So far I'm left with 5/7 and only 1 is pipped. My hens are great quality but not interested in laying. The lack of a beard is something I'm hoping to avoid.
