I forgot to say! The four-week olds made their way into the main coop this evening. They ran back into their own pen when I went into get eggs, but at least they were exploring! There were some hens in the coop too, and it seemed like all was cool.

I have heard the Marans are hard to hatch and the dark eggs are hard to candle which you might consider if the kids want to see anything.
Yes, I must confess that if there are any Marans I can purchase when I am buying other eggs those would be for my own flock so I may risk about three.

I love my Marans, but incubating their eggs does drive me crazy. I just pop them in and hope they do something because I can't see a thing in them. So, its like a surprise everytime one hatches :p
