No air cell development on the clears and the eggs are easy to see into. Not dark eggs and I have a good candler ~

Looking at the developing embryos I'm 99% sure the others are clear not even blood rings. So nothing has even made an attempt to grow.

I've left them in just incase and will re check day 10 but I'm not really not holding my breath

I would email the seller, and ask her if she wants you to do the eggtopsie on day 10. Or if she wants to replace them once the others hatch.

Thanks :highfive:

I say crack them open! It's pretty easy to tell if there is an embryo or not at day 7. But I have kept them in in hope they are alive, they never are for me. It's sad.

I'd maybe email and ask breeder too (ref day 7 or day 10) and def crack open and check...I'm doing that with one of mine in the morning. Hopefully the breeder responds and reimburses in a professional manner. Still a total bummer though...:-/

Goodnight everyone! I'm tired... Had a sheep give birth in to middle of the rain and storm, and I think one of the lambs has some sort of mental problem. Acting really strange. Poor lambs were put in the shed in a pen with mom and under a heat lamp. They are doing so much better. We have plastic barrels we cut a door out of and hung heat lamps in, and lambs love it because it's so warm inside!

Yeah. The whole situation is a bummer, and I've even thrown out eggs on day 4 and 5 before because I can just tell. It's hard to do, but I crack and check for fertility. If they aren't fertile it really annoys me.

@Sally Sunshine & everybody who can help!!

Of my 24 eggs I set only 6 are fertile and showing development. 18 are clear!
They all arrived well packaged on next day delivery so we're not in the post in too long. Only 1 maybe 2 had slightly saddle air cells and I mean slight.

Day seven candling has been a total let down :hit Only 4 of the Columbian black tails and 2 of the pekin are developing. The rest are clear including all 6 orpingtons.

Before I send an email to the breeder I would appreciate your thoughts if you think this is a fertility issue. I'm sure it has to be as the eggs were in good shape.

Thanks!

Before assuming you were sent infertile eggs you may consider if the eggs could have got chilled during postage as that will also prevent eggs from developing even if they were fertile. My brother lives in Yorkshire and says it is freezing.

Also after incubating eggs for a week, determining if an egg was fertile or not by looking at the bulls eye I find really hard.

Cheers you guys :hugs

I will email this morning and see what they say or what they would like me to do if anything. As you say you just know if they are clear but there is always hope. I've done hundreds of eggs and you just get that feeling when they are not right.

@Phage
It was a bit snowy when the eggs arrived but I wouldn't say enough to freeze the eggs through all the polystyrene and bubble wrap but then again you never know! They were on next day delivery too so we're in the post for 24 hours at the most.

Where in good old Yorkshire is your brother?

Sally posts the link to her "clear eggs doesn't mean infertile" about once a day. You can ... Hmmm. To save yourself time, you can look through her articles or wait until she pops in. Looking through posts would take too long. But they can be clear but fertile.

Does anybody have a Small thermometer/Hydrometer That will Fit in a brinsea Mini? My thermometer was a disappointment, And As much as I love the Brinsea Mini, It doesn't have a lot of room for thermometers

There is one sold at Super Pets (or was it Petsmart?). There is one sold at the pet stores that is small and thin. I will be right back with a picture. Chaos18 was showing his off yesterday. BRB!
