Not quite. Thinking more of cutting the barrel lengthwise, laying half of it on the ground, with an access door @ ground level

this one lays down with opening in the end, added a board for a roost, but cutting half would work also, used as a brooder your right about fencing it in

Whites, your idea would make two of them, and mine would mean a more limited number inside. Though I don't see how yours allows for a heat lamp unless you use the hickey jigger.. The heating pad idea.

I candled the broody eggs and only had to take out one that died earlier

Tomorrow is day 21.. The two broody hens are getting cranky with me.. I usually can do lots with them but today they were upset I was there. Going out to block off the front of their nests so other chickens will leave them alone. 13 out of 14 eggs are fertile. Not bad!

I went to gather eggs to find my 11 month old production red had passed away. She was fine yesterday. I am sad. It looks like she passed mid dust bathing.

I also had one of my SiAm eggs turn blood ring. Sad face... I still have 3 left. I hope they make it.

Your version would also work. My only concern would be that the extra space would be that much more for the little guys to heat with body heat

Of my 24 eggs I set only 6 are fertile and showing development. 18 are clear!

They all arrived well packaged on next day delivery so we're not in the post in too long. Only 1 maybe 2 had slightly saddle air cells and I mean slight.

Day seven candling has been a total let down

Only 4 of the Columbian black tails and 2 of the pekin are developing. The rest are clear including all 6 orpingtons.

Before I send an email to the breeder I would appreciate your thoughts if you think this is a fertility issue. I'm sure it has to be as the eggs were in good shape.

Hey Yall,
Just wanted to let yall know why I aint been on so much.

My Pops is back in the Hospital.

He's on borrowed time with a failed heart, at 52.

He was given 6 months - 2 years. This was almost 4 years ago.

I dont know how "serious" it is this time, But recognizing the borrowed time, you just dont know what time will be the "Last."
