HELP ASAP
Wow... I wish I could get that lucky. I'm going nuts waiting to get my hands on some of these marvelous birds! I don't own HRIR, but I've done soooooo much research and stared at enough pictures of champion birds to know what to look for. True, some siblings develop a little slower than others, and many times the ones you think are the best birds get bumped down by the punier birds once they get older. How old are your hens and your roo? If/when I get mine, I'm going to wait until they're fully matured before breeding them... which means if I get some this spring, it'll be next spring before I try to raise any offspring. If my research is correct, waiting until they're a year old is the best way to get the healthiest and strongest chicks.I don't know anything about them! That's why I came over. The one that was lean had like a tomboy pullet shape, not like underweight. I thought maybe she just had poor type, but I guess she was just a little behind the other two developmentally. I had other pics but deleted them.![]()

I don't know much about these birds; I got them from a BYCer who needed to sell her flock in a hurry due to family distress. It was a total impulse decision, but I have not regretted it for a second.
Ha! Purina. I usually get the Dumor because it's a little less, but they were out of pellets. But I like their pretty bags.
I'm sure you have Southern States down there. Ever try their feed?Wow... I wish I could get that lucky. I'm going nuts waiting to get my hands on some of these marvelous birds! How ironic... I bought Dumor because TSC was out of Purina Layena!![]()

The hardware cloth was a bear to handle (as it always is), and it was a pain (literally) to drag it to it's final position, because of the slope and uneven terrain. My hands are a little roughed up because I sort of forgot to wear gloves... It's in a spot under a tree that should leaf out, but still gets a lot of afternoon sun, so the tarp extends all the way down on that side for shade. [COLOR=B42000]

I finished about an hour before chicken bedtime, and the Speckled Sussex and Mr. Tankity Tank Tank were put together in their new home this evening (early enough to get their bearings and see each other a bit - lots of sexy sexy activity goin' on, lots and lots of squatting - this was WAY overdue in their eyes, I think!). I may actually miss having to round Mr. Tankity Poo up every night and put him to bed - I had a last cuddle with him on the way to his new home. On the walk there, he laid his head and neck down to look over my shoulder like a little child (he likes to do that).

I went back out after dark to put them on the roosts if they were sleeping on the ground - and they were all lined up on the roosts, with Tank in the middle and the girls all around him snuggling against him. They all looked VERY happy - it's been a very long courtship. They'll be locked in here for about a week to learn that this is home before I let them out in a paddock. The paddock will have to have overhead coverage, because the SS's are escape artists... (I'm letting them enjoy demolishing the grass inside the tractor before I put down bedding.) Lots of folks needing hugs and thoughts and prayers - I tried to catch most via ovations, but just in case:
I was frustrated to realize that I forgot to plug the turning cradle back in after candling yesterday morning (USER ERROR AGAIN!!!). So the eggs weren't turned for about 30 hours. Hoping they'll be ok - not like I can do anything about it now except hope.
