Just a thought on your ant problem: Have you considered putting your hives on legs and setting the legs in buckets of water so the ants can't get to anything they can climb on? I know absolutely zip about bee keeping, so raising hives on legs may not even be feasible, but I read about Oz's ant problems on his diary thread, and it worked for him @ozexpat
That's exactly what I've done. Initially I had the hive stand on cinder blocks on end standing in concrete mixing troughs but it was too much humidity under the hives and caused fungus inside.

The stand with the water tubs removed

My active hive with legs in water buckets.

Bees working my apricots.

There are two hens in this nest, I just missed getting a picture of 3 hens laying in the same nest.

ok i will try that. I guess there could have been some low temperatures periods I was having trouble stabilizing temp when we was having all the rain.

I know, and now I feel like an ***.

Lesson learned. In the future, get healthy chickens outside as soon as possible and provide as natural of conditions as possible.
If they aren't healthy to begin with, don't get them or cull.

Happy St. Pat's day everyone. It is a big thing around here.
We have a crock pot full of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes.

I don't think I'll have time to make the Hibernian's parade in Dogtown today.
I also can't drink much. I have pool league tonight. I do need to get to the Asian/Latin market to buy some more kelp for my FF.

Happy St. Paddy's day!!!

Not a bad idea to complete the course. However, as a thiamine blocker, not completing wouldn't have the same negative effect as not completing a course of antibiotics, for example.

I hope you didn't put it in the incubator.
Twinning in incubated eggs is akin to a death sentence.

IMHO, trying to repair legs is almost never worth the time or effort.

Tell us more about your management. Are the birds closely confined? Are they free ranged? What do you feed?

Did you start with healthy birds or were they sickly  from the beginning?

Leave them. Did you candle at lockdown? I once did an eggtopsy on an egg I was sure was on day 25. In doing so, I killed a live chick about to hatch.
Sounds like, if they're still alive, that your temps have been low throughout.
The lamp doesn't have to be a heat lamp. Any incandescent or halogen bulb will generate heat. Probably 75 watt will be sufficient.
but it's cold in our house

Wow, that a lot for an exam! How close are you to the state lab?

The joints wouldn't be swollen unless the kidney damage is beyond repair.
I doubt he's been on 4% calcium long enough to cause gout yet. I just mentioned that you should try another feed.
IMHO, when things go awry, it's best to go back to basics. Lots of fresh air, fresh clean water and fresh chicken feed formulated for the age of the bird.
Vets are expensive. Perhaps the state poultry lab would be a better choice.

That's lots of antibiotics for not knowing if it was even a bacterial problem.

That's too far to drive... Bummer.

Don't beat yourself up, you did what you could. :hugs

It is, on a happy note, his crop isn't squishy today, feel normal and about the size of a half tennis ball. He also seems a bit perkier than when I was freaking out yesterday. I got the call back from the test, it will be $44 and now I need to figure out a way to collect his mostly liquidy poo.

You could put him in a box or crate on paper towels, drive to the vet and give them the soiled paper towels maybe? They will want as fresh a sample as possible.

When there, be very specific and tell them you want his poop checked for coccidia, worm eggs, bacteria and yeast.

I was thinking of confining him to catch his poo like that. they want the equivalent of a 1/2 inch cube or as much as I can get.
