Birds are as dusted as I could get them being only me and not wanting to overly stress them. Hopefully I will see Gordon perk up in the next few hours.

Try to dust the coop and the nesting boxes to! If you can change the bedding it is for the better!

I feel like such a dummy. My boy who has slowly been getting worse over time has lice! I'm still taking his poo to the vet but I'm going to mix up some of my permethrin concentrate and treat for lice. I can apply it directly to the bird right? Once it's diluted?

My best guess it that ducks and geese are more waterproof than other birds and they transfer their oil to their offspring.

So you're thinking the oil on the offspring is topical in the beginning, 'til they can produce it on their own? That would make sense, to me anyway.

Yes. It explains why when my mama ducks take their day old ducklings swimming they stay dry, but those I raise get water logged when they use their 1 gallon chicken waterer. I now use the quart sized ones and they do better with those.

I should be getting a phone call sometime today. I dropped the poo off about 11 and they close at 6. I imagine I'll get a call around or right after closing time.
