It's a shame you can't tell how old they are
We have a hen that jumps out of the run. She lays an egg, then immediately tries to get back in to the run. We go out every afternoon to let her back in. She was laying underneath some railroad ties that we had stacked. When we used the RR ties, she started looking for a new place to use. She finally found a new place....it was inside an old log, where the insides are starting to rot. She had enlarged the opening on one end and made a nice nest. There were 8 eggs in there. We ate them all. We knew it was no more than 2 weeks for her to lay 8 eggs, so eggs will still be good to eat or hatch. We've now expanded their run to include that log, so she stopped using it. She is still jumping out looking for her next nest. She takes her privacy seriously!

Here are some of my girls who are enjoying standing on the log that she was using
.

Look at this!

This is a box I mailed to LA. It took 10 days to get there. No eggs were broken, so all the wet looking gunk is something else....

I would totally try for an insurance claim on this one, but the buyer didn't present it, so I'm not sure if I can. I think I'll try anyway.....
That is crazy!! After having received eggs from you, I can say that the way you pack the eggs has EVERYTHING to do with why none of these eggs were broken!! Good job!!

I can't believe the buyers aren't filing a claim!! That is disgraceful! Just for the fact that it took 10 days, isn't priority mail supposed to take 2 to 3 days?

Quote: Not broken, but old and probably very scrambled. I am shipping more out to them today....Not either of our's fault but we both pay, right?

Priority is supposed to take two or three days, but is not guaranteed. You can't open a claim on them being late, only if they are lost for more than 14 days. Priority Express is guaranteed to be on time.
I believe that the PO banks on the fact that the sender has to make the claim, but the buyer has to obtain the proof of damage when they get it....I don't know, as with so much gov't, it's all convoluted to make it impossible.

Okay. Here are the "instructions"
The sock is a kids size 7-8, I picked up a 3 pack for $1 so thats 6 diapers plus an 8 pack of shoelaces for $1 so 16 if those. Gotta love the $1 store never know what you'll find.

Sock laid out- side view

Laid out- top view
I made a slit down part of the "toe" section to make it easier to get on. There are holes cut in the "toe" on the top and in the neck strap (ankle).

Top view with shoelace. She is small enough that the "neck" is tied together with the laces. Crisscross over back for more support.

In the "toe" I have a piece of doggy diaper (I found at a thrift store 10 XL for $1.50)

I am only leaving it on for 20-30 minutes at a time to get her used to it. She struggles a bit at first but calms quickly.

Problems so far- if she is just sitting on my shoulder, she reaches around and unties the laces. I need to find some other fastener but am not going to worry until she is bigger. I actually picked up to dog collars at the $1 store for the clips (they were $2 each at walmart) I also picked up some fabric at the thrift store, its stretchy so I'll see later.

UPDATE from DH- He arrived home last night and said "Why is there a duck in the living room? Is this going to be an indoor duck?" I replied that I don't know yet. She is too small to go outside.

For those of you with indoor ducks, adults, what do you house them in at night, when you are not home etc? I have a small dog crate for now but she will outgrow that quickly.

Olamina Goose's first sock diaper!

Thanks for the tip! This should be a sticky! I used a panty liner maxi pad (22 count from the dollar store) instead of the dog training pad. I loosely double tied the shoe laces and Ola nibbled at the laces a bit but she couldn't undo it. This was super easy, fast, cheap, and effective!

Here is my prototype I finished today. It is intended for an American Buff goose.

This is the front (part that goes under goose's belly). It's hard to tell from the photo, but the two straps are sewn to the front, forming a half loop. The goose's head will go through this loop. The adjustable straps came from an old bra I haven't worn in years.

Here is a side view. I went with an open tail design so the goose can reach her oil gland. The pouch at the end is to catch all the poo. It fastens directly across the goose's back with bra hooks. The strap that runs the length of the goose's back was made with the other bra strap and fastens with a button. I decided to use a coat button since that's what I had on hand. It was my first time using the button hole feature on my brother sewing machine. It's not pretty but it works great!

Back view closed. Fastened securely vertically with button and horizontally with bra hooks.

Back view open. I sewed a liner into the poo catcher to hopefully reduce/avoid leaky messes. I also sewed a piece of elastic to help make it more of a pouch. If I get a few days use out of it, I'll be a happy camper. I am going to use disposable diapers cut in half as inserts. Now, all I need is a model. I can hardly wait! :D
