I didn't tell you the whole story...I was carrying him on advice, to let him know who's running this show, 'cause he'd come up from behind me a few times with mischief on his mind. Never spurred, just ran into me, evidently as a challenge. I wasn't going to let it become a habit.

Figured I would get my 14 day candle out of the way BEFORE my second beverage

First the bad news, all silkies were clears. I guess it is time to put the new Roo in charge and 'retire' my other one. Haven't had fertile silkie eggs since December.

Also found 3 definite early quitters, and have three others questionable (Easter eggers, really dark shells)

So my update is 3 leghorns, 4 Easter eggers, 5 Columbian rocks going strong at day 14, 2 leghorns & 1 CR still in bator, but not hopeful.

If I wait till my third beverage, I might just climb in the bator with them. It is nice and warm in there.
Like you, I have been having major disputes with Mr. Murphy for the past few weeks and haven't had time to be on at a reasonable hour.

As for the silkies, I suspected my Roo is not producing, brought home his replacement a few weeks ago, about time to let him out of quarantine and retire the other one.

That makes sense... I don't find roos to be the most cuddly critters in the world. Yep, you have to let them know who is boss or it will escalate.
