I have a young rooster. Hatched in October. Out of 10 laying hens I think he is only breeding two. The two he is breeding are starting to look pretty bad. The back of their heads are bare and the feathers on their back are looking pretty ragged. What advice do you have? Should I segregate those two hens from him? Since he is young is that why he isn't breeding the other hens?
I put eggs in the incubator last Monday but I am thinking most of them wont be fertile. I am going candle them tomorrow. Have never done that yet but am reading all the info on this forum. Great info. You all are so helpful
So i have a question, what happens if i cant get the AC to the right size before they hatch? Whats going to happen to the chicks?
Too big or too small? Too small there is less of a chance of hatch becuase if they don't pip in time they run out of air. Too big they don't have enough room for movement. I think this is correct...
Always listen to Sally, she's like the Chicken queen/expertToo small. But im doing what sally instructed so hopefully it will work!!
go ChickiesSoooooo all six of the Ayam Cemani chicks are in the air cells!!! And one was cheeping so I watched it roll around and then it suddenly pipped! I'm so excited for this! This is technically day 20, but in ten minutes it's day 21!
