My babies are growing up too fast. Sunny already has wing feathers!

Quote:Guys im really at a lossi dont know what to do about this chick with the messed up leg... i tried electric tape, didnt work... anyone know how to make a hobble? I might have to put him down.. although he can walk enough to get food and water im not sure what to do. He is my favorite of the batch, mostly because he loves me and jumps in my hand when i put it in there...![]()
That's your call. In my experience, the majority of messed up legs don't do well in the long run.My mom doesnt want to put it down, but i dont think it would be fair to the bird, would it? It doesnt look in pain, just that it cant walk..
Hopefully it wasn't off that long. Internal egg temperature won't be the same.I just got home after about 8 Hours of being gone from the house, and when I came in, the incubator was off! The plug in short circuited I'm guessing, and the temp on my thermos told me house temp is 74 incubator 76. I have no idea how long it's been off. I have eggs on day 19 and 8.
Those swings wouldn't bother me.Question .... My humidity keeps flipping from 68-71 and temp goes from 99.1- 99.9 - 99.1quickly... Is that because I just moved them into the hatching gator? How long til the temp and humidity stop jumping around... I don't want to go to sleep until it evens out for more than 30 minutes... Both have changed several times even as I type the post...
I've ignored the desire to buy an infrared because they just aren't accurate enough at 100 degrees to make them useful. It would be nice to get the egg shell temperature but they don't work for that.I just did a spot check with my infrared thermometer...it says 104.2 degrees...that can't be right but it's an automotive thermometer...up to 3000 degrees if it was that got the eggs would have cooked a long time ago....I'm gonna tend to believe the Brinsea thermometer.....and the medical calibrated thermometer...but they both show the temps being a little low.
Maybe you're too inquisitive. Put it back in the bator and wait. What does it mean
That means its a girl!
??What, does it mean if in the air cell there is a spot that's turning brown.
it's where the back is and because I canMy best guess is that the membrane is drying out because it gets taken out of the bator all the time to and gets candled.
You gotta leave it alone, especially just now as you are reducing its chances of hatching.
Not sure why we bother repeating this as you do what you want anyway.

I didn't think you could sex them like that unless one parent was a fast feathering breed and the other slow?
