Happy Easter everybody. It has been so nice here and with the time change, working until 9-10 pm every day. So needless to say, haven't been on too much. All this beautiful weather and then we wake up to 4" of snow this morning. Right now I'll take any moisture I can get but would have rather had a nice soaking 1 or 2 inch rain. Was planning on working most of the day until the family comes over later this afternoon but I think I'm quite content to feed and call it a day.

Hope everybody has a great Easter Day.

Ok so it's trying to zip and can't? Do you know how long ago it pipped? 24 hours external pip to start zip is normal. White paper-y membrane is ok. It may turn brownish around the pip but doesn't necessarily mean the whole membrane is dry unless it's been pipped a long time.
it's,was stuck to the chick

My grandfather had to sell his bakery due to health issues. He then worked for the man that he sold the bakery to. When my mother got a call in the middle of the night, she knew what it was. He had suffered a heart attack at work.
She always complains that he should have retired, and not pushed himself so hard. Unfortunately, she inherited his "no one else is going to do it" attitude.

The second Easter after getting Sturgis, I hid some treats in some plastic eggs. He had never used his nose to find a treat before. He didn't see where it was thrown, he had no idea where to look. That Easter, he found all of his 12 eggs in the two minutes it took me to get the camera. And I had them all over the living room, kitchen and dining room!
If I were to go outside today (I'll skip the drama, and just say that I won't be going out), he would be able to find all of his eggs across two acres. He finds an egg, and opens it. After that, he will bring all of his eggs to that area. Eventually, he will pick a second area, but it is a given that I can find all of the empty shells quickly. :lau

Im sorry to hear about your grandfather. I think in some cases like that, working hard everyday is all they know. They have that go go go personality. Retirement sounds good but when they are sitting at home it feels boring and unfulfilling. I can't tell my mom anything. She won't go to a doctor for a checkup and she has her own cleaning business so her job is physical work. She does all floors in her customers houses by hand- no mops. I don't know when she will finally retire!

lol Sturgis has got this Easter thing down! What a lucky pup to get his own egg hunt

Ok - I know it is not Morning/coffee time but you guys do morning SOOOOOO early. This is what I won at an estate sale auction today (that was online but local). It comes with original receipt and everything. Cost $35 + tax/fees. Good bye instant coffee!!!! :celebrate
Nice....sweet coffee pot!!! Can I have a cup?
The voices in my head are still sleeping. I need more coffee. :caf I think another gallon should do! Or, I could just go back to bed.
Do you really drink that much coffee?
HELP ASAP, I can't go outside to help.but I went out to let the chickens out and the bantam chick is stuck.

I had to retire last fall....decades of poor health and turning wrenches all day left my body and mess...left me dependent on pain meds...everyone thought when I'd retire if be sitting in my chair all crippled up.....what actually happened is that I'm busier now than I was. I used to come home from work and collapse...now it takes me longer to get started but I go till dark. Which is why I don't get a lot of time to post here. HAPPY EASTER.....

Ham's going in the oven, and stuff is getting prepped for cooking in the evening.

Sounds like you'll be enjoying a very nice meal later! I was going to fix a ham but I decided to go with something a little different this year. Still staying with pork but I'm going more "southern style" fixing homemade BBQ pulled pork, steak fries and corn on the cob. ...and German chocolate cake for dessert.

Thank you, but I don't have many relatives left. No grandparents, only three aunts (2 I've never met) no uncles. My father is dead, I've already lost a brother ... When it comes to relatives, I don't expect them to live very long.
Sturgis is a silly pup. His love of Easter eggs has amused us for many holidays. One year, he stole his stocking and got every egg out. Three dozen eggs! He shook, chewed and stomped on that stocking!
