I have a question, I have a chick who started pipping and zipping yesterday afternoon/ early evening, and had stopped. no new progress, I am not even seeing movement from inside the egg. Should I be concerned or is this common? I know the rule is it can take up to 48 hours from pip to hatch, but what about when they have started to zip, how long before i get very worried?

Good morning. I hate 4:00 alarms. If I had my way they would be confined to hunting season not the work week. Oh well, if the worst problem I have is not enough sleep (&ankle) I truly count myself blessed.

Two chickies hatched last night

30-90 min or so after starting zip if I remember correctly. How has your humidity been? They can get stuck by membrane.

Zipping should take 90 minutes or less. Usually it's a lot less.

Great I think. Suns not up. Waiting for my cup of coffee. How's things in SW PA
Well the suns up over here and I've got some coffee in me....so far so good.

Any alarm before 7 am should be illegal.........unless it's hunting season.
