Anyone like my big Brahma? Here are my first babies after a year of not breeding! Look at ddozeeee feet!!!

Thanks all for the warm birthday wishes.
Pool was fun, I won 2 and lost 1. Our team won 9 to 5. We're in first place now. My wife, son and daughter came to watch. It was a late night. I didn't get up till 7 this morning.

That looks messy. We're getting a hard freeze tonight. Likely the last of the season. I'll cover all the veggies that are in and I'll be up from about 4 till 8 in the morning misting the fruit trees.
I never played pool till I went in the army. Took up foosball at the same time and filled a lot of idle hours with both. By the time I got home I was good at both. Continued to play a lot for the next 15+ years but I've played very little in the last 20+. This is the first time I've been on a league and the skill is there but the eyes aren't. It's amazing the shots I miss and on the other hand, the ones I'm able to make.

up to 10 days is pretty reliable. They go down hill quickly after that.
How they're stored makes all the difference. Just kept on the counter, about a week is all you can expect. However if kept cooler, around 60F and turned at least twice a day, then you can go up to 2 weeks. Beyond that, a few hours of pre-storage incubation, kept cooler (40F), encased in nitrogen and stored small end up - you might be able to keep them 3 weeks or longer.
Trouble is, unless you plan on storing them longer, you aren't likely to go to any of those measures.

Things to look at are high hatcher temperature, poor hatcher ventilation, incubator contamination, breeder nutrition and inadequate turning in the first 12 days.
Twins rarely survive and if they do, they usually aren't hardy as chicks.

The yolk doesn't run when it's been frozen. It just stays in a yellow ball.

I feel your pain. At least you can have 12. That's still enough to breed. What's the word on roosters?
Most cities around here limit to 4 birds. A couple only allow 3. That's not enough to keep one person in eggs, let alone a family.
The city of St. Louis allows 4 without a permit and 10 with a kennel permit.
St. Louis county consists of 92 separate cities, each with their own rules. Unincorporated county has no limit but doesn't allow breeding.
I have a permit for 85 chickens and 5 roosters. One of the only cities I'm aware of that actually wrote allowing roosters into the ordinance.
With so many tiny cities butting up against one another, it's feasible for four neighbors here to have four different sets of rules. One neighbor may be allowed unlimited chickens, another may have 10, the next only 3 and the fourth can have none. That's something I have to address in my chicken class in the morning.

X2

A lot of the cities around here that have written ordinances allowing chickens, place lost size restrictions to the point that perhaps only 5% of the residents can have them.

I was almost 400 behind.

Just getting ready to reply to these, I'm another 50 behind.
The guy who taught me most of what little I know about pool had a table in his basement. We were classmates in HS & he was supposed to be tutoring me in math; I learned more about pool than I did about math. He showed me a great way to practice: line up 2 balls in front of each pocket, on the edge of the pocket & touching. Line up the 3 remaining balls with the side pockets, also touching & lined up with the pockets. Cue ball is shot from any angle, as long as it's behind the normal "break Line" for lack of a better term). The object is to sink all the balls in the fewest number of shots, without scratching. It taught me a lot about draw, angles, making the cue ball follow the object ball, banking, etc. Frustrating, but loads of fun. I think the best I ever did was 8 shots.

Duckling seemed to want to potty train today. I put cloth training pants on her. Sooo glad I have plastic pants too! She swore she didn't have to go. Then told me when she was done peeing a minute later. :D I dealt with that, then noved on to the next challenge.
This morning the ducklings finally learned to swim. :love. Duckling learned that when I say "keep your hands out of the water" she can say "awww" and pet their heads. I learned they poop fast.
Then I had to clean the brooder. The tub was drained, and the bathroom gets warm fast with the door shut. That dealt with, I began. Duckling had to be put in het playroom. She was getting too grabby. I was going to wait until naptime, but I've put it off long enough. It had to get done! Refilling the brooder was a trial. The liner I put down wasn't working, and I had already put in the pine shavings. I finally got that all settled, and then it was time to get the ducklings. Which were in the closed barhroom. In the playroom with a baby gate up. That is one of those stupid new ones that don't have a little plastic knob to make it easier to raise to latch. I had poop on my hands. Oy!
Then it was time to go outside. Duckling was running around with her clothes. She did not want to get dressed!
Outside, the dog had the runs from too many treats. Anyone ever see the pig looking container of treats that has a nose you push a treat into, and it goes flying through the air? Duckling had to practice. The dog didn't mind!
Then the dog realized that the drake was following me around closely. The dog playfully went after him a few times to keep me to himself. Jojo the duck finally goosed the dog! :lau
Duckling wanted something under the stove. Mopping the kitchen floor and cleaning underneath the stove are two other things I have been putting off. They are now done.
As bad as my back hurt this morning, it hurts so nuch more now! I need a back massage!
