Good Morning Everyone!

Howdy.... I don't know maybe I'll sleep tonight...... Sorry I got a lot on my mind...... After four days without sleep today might be interesting..... I just hope I don't fall a sleep during the race tonight!!!! TEXAS BABY!!!!

I have a question for all the quail hatchers. We have a friend that lives up in the hills. There are a bunch of wild quail that live nearby, but there are so many predators, that they are disappearing faster than they are replenishing. He was wondering if we would hatch quail for him, that he could re-release around his property. He says they do a great job of keeping down on the bugs, and he'd probably eat some of them as well.

If they hatch in an incubator, can they ever be released out in the wild? If they can, at what age?

@daxigait Congratulations on the piglets!!
Wild birds eat seeds that account for the oil in the feathers; commercial feed doesn't have that. The oil helps them stay dry; without it, they'd chill & die. Time spent foraging will put the oil in the feathers, but, to avoid predation, quail must be strong fliers; that entails the use of flight pens or recall pens.

That would put a damper on things, alright. Grab a shovel & have at it

Pun intended?

I just went out to mist the fruit again and it's already up to 32F. No worries.

At 28F after blossom drop you can expect to lose 10%. At 25F you'll lose 90%.

Good morning everyone!
Quick update-
Candled eggs in bator last night after fan failure/replacement
Several clears, but most all showing good progress/development
Some eggs too dark to see clearly, but suspect still viable!

Whites, caught your comment about fan wiring yesterday. Wiring plenty heavy enough for load, fans have been re-purposed from old computers, so probably old age rather than wiring issues. Almost out of used ones, might have to break down and buy some new ones.

Phil, sorry to hear about the sleep issues again. I have bouts of insomnia and they leave me drained too. Saw your comments regarding the better half, I will leave that alone and hope and pray all turns out ok. Enjoy the races later!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Well, she squished the runt, but it was not as mobile as well as being small. It is still sad. For a first litter eleven healthy is good for me. She will sell with them.
