Okay, I have not seen Motorcyclechick in days. Has anyone heard from her?
Sounds as though you need a greenhouse, Leeroy. You don't really need a "frame & glass" building; you can accomplish the same objective with cattle panels & clear plastic sheeting. The beauty of it is, you can expand it in 4' increments as you desire / need.I hope you have fun in the garden. I decided to start some tomato seeds a couple of weeks ago and just as soon as they start to sprout, we have highs below 40 and I've had to leave them inside all the time for the last 4 days. I'll get to bring them out today, but the shock is probably gonna kill them... I shall see. The only time I ever have luck is if I can bring them out everyday and put them in at night. I do hope to have a small greenhouse for next year though.

Believe it or not, I HAD one... It was from last year and plastic. They were in there for a day, and we got a hail storm that turned the thing into swiss cheese! I had to take it down and haven't had the opportunity to make one. I thought about maybe an old fish tank upside down raised off the ground a little. I'll have to think of something...Sounds as though you need a greenhouse, Leeroy. Quote: Yes, the sun has been up here. I guess you guys still need as much rain/snow as you can get still.
Okay I have no experience with "grafting" but this sounds very interesting. Is the purpose of it to hybridize the plant? Gardening isn't something I've done a great amount of research on, I've just been kind of learning as I go...Same here with the weather. In order to graft the tomatoes the parent plant needs to be started a week before the root stock. The root stock grows extremely fast so a weeks head start is needed. So with the weather warming up I started the heirloom seeds and they came up great. Then I planted the root stock and the weather turned cold. Yeah not so good. The goal is to get both the same size at the same time so a match can be found to graft. Was lucky to get the three I did. I still have a few to work with so I might try again.
x2 I miss MCIn had heard or seen that her internet was down for repairs or something like that.![]()
I hope she's back soon
