Thanks. I tried them once. I think it gets too hot and cold here to keep them going. Or I did something wrong.

I had them in the basement; cool in summer & warm in winter, thanks to the whole-house wood stove

Try live King meal worms, mine love those!

I tried raising meal worms a few years ago, for fish bait. Bedded them in oatmeal, which was also their food source. Most of the seed stock was found in chicken manure, some was leftover bait, which was larger than the wild variety. I gave up after they ate their way out of their container; raising meal worms in styrofoam containers is NOT a good idea!   

Lol! I've had the big ones chew a hole in a plastic bag in the ten minutes it takes to drive from the feed store to here!

My Gimpy chick is the same. It's got a fluffy belly, how can I check for purple spots? Get her wet? There is no diarrhea

Again, I'm not seeing any other signs of Cocci, but the chicks did have access to wet feed. Should I treat everyone or wait for the necropsy results from the first dead chick?
