I only heave tetracycline powder and oxytetracycline powder (yeah, I know, kind of redundant - it was all I could get in my feed store antibiotic run when stocking up a while ago - I need to order some other stuff online). He's sleeping. 'Bout the same. Yeah, weird about the legs/feet...
Taking a break from yard work - finished mowing for now - some of it was just mowing already cleared areas, other areas I'm trying to clear and are thigh high. I'm slowly "reclaiming" my property (in the past it wasn't fenced and untended, and sometimes delinquents would hang out back there, mostly before my time - totally overgrown). In addition to a very old rusted out spray paint can, I found:
And I ran the mower right over this - it was in a depression and all eggs intact (it's one of the SS girls getting out every day to hide her nest, the little stinker):
I also got nice shots of Tank and his girls among the wildflowers in their paddock (not mown):
OK, gotta get something to eat, then blackberry planting...
Quote: I just came from Lowe's and I wish I had my camera. They had tomato plants. They were large but they were $15 ea.. How does one get $15 of tomatoes off of a single plant? I thought $4 was high for single plants. Don't people know what seeds are?
reply: These days with the "instant gratification" mode, folks DON'T know what seeds are, or even what to do with them. They want to buy it all on Saturday morning, stick it in the ground, be done by noon, and expect a crop with no further work. They even sell CORN seedlings now.
Not worth the price. Consider the labor on top of the math.
You still can't get more tomatoes from a $15 plant than you can buy organic ones from Whole Foods Market (i.e. Whole Paycheck).
If a plant fails, that's $15 down the tubes. The super root stock can't overcome that.
Perhaps some parts of the country have pricey tomatoes but not in the Midwest.
I have seen walmart stores be the demise of small town America, putting mom and pop shops out of business. Now that there is no alternative, they shut down stores that aren't profitable enough with no one left with enough money to start a business. That was before their antics wiped out $4,000 worth of my chickens.
