Fisherlady was here yesterday, returning my ducklings that she had been taken care of for me. Since the chickens came from her, she brought her camera to record their progress. It is hard to believe that it is the same flock I see every time I look outside.

Nice! What are the blue/lav. ones? Great duck photo :)

Not to mention that gas weed eaters suck unless you want to spend a fortune on one.

This is the tool for brush.

My dad wanted me to cut some brush and bought a heavy duty gas brush machine with blades with a strap that hangs around your neck. After about 5 minutes of use I told him to take it back. It shook me to death and didn't cut much. I used the brush hook and got the job done in no time.

I used to have a hoe axe before someone stole it from me. It was marvelous at cutting brush down flush with the ground. and it looked exactly like it sounds. Just like a hoe but with a heavier and chiseled head.

I have a couple of horses, but my chickens are in back in the goat pen which is guarded by a llama. I don't know if he does anything about coons, but they don't tolerate any type of canine.
The mama of my 1st horse wasn't crazy about dogs, but she'd tolerate them, unless they were Irish Setters. She'd been harassed by one once, and never forgot it.

Once upon a time, I was walking around the church camp that Brian was in charge of. They had a decent sized farm for the kids to enjoy. A llama, goats, sheep, chickens, and pigs. There was a coyote trotting down the road by the animals. It looked at the animals, then ran off. I rushed back to the house to tell Brian, and he laughed. "Did you see that llama in the pen? Nothing is going anywhere near those animals as long as she is there!"
That's awesome!

Yes, they are great. They also eat what the goats do and except for their feet are easy and you can harvest their wool.
not sold on the wool part, and they spit

They work best if you can get a male. He needs to be gelded so it should be three when that is done. They have about twenty years so they outlast a dog.
Here is William who is at my house and I keep another one at my friend's house with my goat there. He is Si and is sunning himself.

They are very cute though :)

We are actually having a spring this year it seems.

Is there a treat like scratch or something they will coming running for, maybe try throwing some of that through their door to encourage them in?

So true!
Or maybe on the ramp. That worked for me, with corn kernels, when my current rooster was in the run for the first time, he ate his way up to the coop door.

Most of my horses don't care, but I had one like that mare that was chased when young. He grew up to tolerate most dogs, but would pin his ears at the pushy or aggressive.
