Barn space or outdoor space? My 6 does have about 15' x 14' indoor space and about 1/3 acre they have access too all the time, expect bad winter storms. I cut that about every 3 or 4 weeks. They also have a 4' overhang outside the barn. 

What kind of fencing did you use?
