you are so fortunate to be able to have them scattered around and not succumb to predators.

They wouldn't survive a night or two here - and I'm in the burbs of a large metropolitan area.


Am I wrong, or is an ox not a distinct breed, but merely a steer of a large breed, trained to the yoke to do farm work or pull a cart / wagon? I saw that on TV a while back.

You are right but oxtail is a culinary name given to any degloved bovine tail.

It is because urban and suburban environs have exponentially more predators than rural areas per square mile.
That's what drives me nuts when people say they don't have predators because they don't live in the country.
