Golly, it's slow! So... some pictures.

Here's the EHAL boys' growout tractor coop, renovation in progress (added bedding, but needed to swap out the tarp, add shade cloth, and add a roosting platform that proved hard to measure and fit in the existing structure due to the angles of the conduit).

After several trims and fits, I got the roosting platform in place FINALLY, with Gorilla tape over the seam. Added Sweet PDZ, hung the feeder and waterer chains, and then gave up for the night.

THIS is what happens when it rains uncontrollably and you've been too busy with chicken stuff to tend the front of your house. Beauty berry, roses, rangoon creeper, hoja santa, lemon balm and chile pequins all vying for the right to take over my house. Roses currently about 7-8 feet high, beauty berry is up to about 14 ft. There's also mouse melon that is growing as a weed and actually attempting to crawl through the door - had to beat it and the lemon balm back today...

Finally, can't remember if it was here where I asked about fly control. I got the FlyStick, recommended by someone. Works great, but you know how they warn that it's so sticky it can also catch/stick to small birds? Um, yeah...

Trying to work my way thorough my freezer inventory to make sure I get to anything that's older - found some locally made German bratwurst rattling around in there, so that's for dinner with homemade cheese and mustard. Yum!!!!!

Love the grout tractor coop. I'm a bit behind on yard work too. Flystick seems to work.

Hatch update....
11 of 12 Mille fluer hatched at the end of day 20.
1 malpo pipped and trying to zip.
Going to give that one a few more hours while I get some sleep.
I am hopeful it will do fine on its own, and I can finally claim a 100% hatch rate.

Goodnight all!
Congratulations! Fingers crossed for the malpo.

What is the shortest amount of time you've had a chicken be broody and accept chicks? I have chicks now and I believe my Ameraucana chicken has just gone broody. Would tomorrow night be to soon? She is only about 8 months old.
I wouldn't try that quick with a young first time broody.

Today got off to a decent start; just woke up to 2/12 chicks hatched that weren't officially due 'til tomorrow. Not bad, so far, considering I really didn't expect any to successfully hatch after all the humidity swings from the beginning, so every one's an unexpected bonus. The

rest of the day should be interesting.

Congratulations!

Morning Banti!

Two more visible pips started.

Wonderful!

Does anyone know if there is a link to the conversation about stuff to make sunburns feel a bit better?
-Banti
Aloe or vinegar is what I have used.

Good morning everyone!

Mornin! How's Bubbles?
Me too, but they bought where their back yard opens up into a green space with some open field tennis courts, swimming pool, ect. The end of the block opens into the other part which has a park and a half mile plus trail around a pond. It keeps me sane. I hope you have a great weekend. Later

I just checked; found the same thing, probably in Random Ramblings. There's something else they added, but I don't remember what. Also some mention of vinegar being used in conjunction with something, in the same thread.
Not sure if it's still around, but 10 years ago I got burnt so bad in Hawaii that my back was covered in blisters. Got this sun burn relief gel by a company called Banana Boat, soothed 75% plus of my pain. Think it had aloe and lidocaine or something like that. The bottle was clear and the gel blue. Vitamin e capsules help too. prick 1 end with a pin and smear vitamin E all over the burnt area.

I remember a young blonde girl, about 7 or 8 as I recall, from when I was a kid. Being fair skinned, she must've blistered easily. She showed up on the playground one day with blisters literally hanging off of her upper body, like so many water balloons.
Sounds about right, forgive the graphic detail, but mine would expand and join together...
