Another viable option to consider is to seal your bator with clear aquarium grade sealant. If you choose to go that route make sure it is the aquarium grade non-toxic version. I was considering this as a back up plan but the paint has worked so well I dismissed that idea. I don't know if I would use this in your scenario especially due to the fact that it is clear and even though it is sealed you will still be able to see the gunk. It should however make future cleaning a dream as compared to now.

There are several options but here is an example.

The light spot is where the label was.... I have scrubbed the lid like crazy.... It used to be worse! The bottom is a bit better.

100% silicone is the same thing as the aquarium safe sealant. A retired reptile professor that now moonlights at Petco told me that. It is much cheaper too.

However, I think paint is a better idea. Cleaning silicone isn't as easy.

Thanks! Fortunately, I have not had much trouble with them going out. It would be better if I had more than one bulb in there but I have the heat just right with the one. In a couple years with four or so incubators this is the first one I had go out that I don't catch right away. I figure it was like the hen took a long break

With my luck, the bulb would go out at night when the incubator is overflowing with valuable eggs.
I do have a high/low temp alarm but sometimes the incubator is in the cellar and I won't hear it.

The cop stopping traffic was somewhat safe, but the person that just walked across the busy road scared me. But I loved the guy catching them as they jumped. I'm wondering if that is a daily ritual?

My Red golden/Lady Amherst possibly pure of both or cross go into lockdown tonight for a Saturday hatch along with some chicken eggs.
