Good Morning Pensmaster! How are the hens and the chicks doing?Good morning.![]()
That's not your's, I hope! What in the world happened?!
Personally, I'd take out the one(s) that hatched yesterday, sometime today. When you do it have a warm damp paper towel or two to toss in to help bring the humidity back up quicker. Any chance the 5th one will finish soon, maybe do it when that one is done too.How long can I leave ducks in the incubator? First one hatched yesterday. 5th is slowly working at it. And two are a ways behind.
Thanks

You could be getting some warmth from the embryonic activity. Try smaller bulbs perhaps. What do you have set up for ventilation in the incubator? Are there air holes at the top and bottom?Hi all!
I made Sally Sunshine's DIY cabinet incubator back in the late winter, and have been running it steady ever since.
It's worked great, up until recently when we started to have temps in the 80s. We don't have AC, just run fans when
necessary.
The thermostat is a ST-1000 with a probe for what regulates the temperature.
So It overheated to 42*C & 44*C (according to the thermostat) - and it was set for 37.5 originally, then I lowered it to 37.0.
Even though the light bulbs (heat source) rarely turn on, it's seemingly holding them temperature of the eggs & then it starts to climb.
I moved the thermostat probe closer to the lights & kept the door ajar, and it's seeming to help. But, the temperature is more un-even
throughout the incubator b/c of this.
Any suggestions?
The larger one on the right is the one in question.
Since the photo, I've changed out the fans for bigger ones & they've
helped. But, that was months ago.
Also, all 3 turners had eggs in them when
it overheated. Most of the top eggs died, so they're
temporarily empty. Don't want to add more until I
figure out how to fix the overheating.

Two fires nearby. One is only 2 acres but it's spreading fast. Several buildings have been damaged. Evacuations are mandatory. The second only a few miles away has sparked fires in several areas. Things are so dry, and it was pushing 100 the past couple days. I hope they get a handle on these quickly and no more structures are lost!!!
Which one was it? They don't look anything alike. Can you tell them apart? And we had rain for at least 10 hours strait today and yards flooded, and I was walking in the backyard just now with flip flops and almost stepped on a copper head or cotton mouth.
I don't even know why I try to catch up - but I did.Could people please stop trying to catch up, and just talk? I am thinking, and it is scaring me.
