Let me know if this works!
They just sprayed three coats of concrete onto the buildings and details are now being sculpted in. My job last week was cutting and installing the mirrors in the bathroom of the more finished building just to the right of the newest structures....
Like mirrors in a funhouse. Guy in green taking the picture is a contractor, girl in MASH shirt is an intern from University of Cincinnati, I'm in the orange and Jim is next to me.
The bathroom window and mosaic.
I will try to get some pictures this week to make more sense of this bathroom that we have dubbed, "The Sistine Bathroom".
Chicken and duck news coming up.....
Oh, and I have runner duck and bantam EE eggs over on the auction site if anyone here is interested
Quote: It depends on the:
1 s/v ratio of the leaves
2. The plant species
3. The light wave length and intensity
4. The water and CO2 availability
You can produce O2 in this reaction
2H2O2 +CATALAZE--> 2H20+O2
And now in English
Peroxide + a pice of animal or plant tissue it could be a peace of liver or crushed potsto, and then you will get oxygen, but I don't think that you csn use it in your bator
lol I was hoping to simply grow it in the bottom of the cup or container BENNY!!!
What's the earliest that you all have successfully integrated your new chicks with older flock? I have read so many different pages and articles on this, but just curious what your actual experiences are.
I got some jubilee orpingtons, partridge and red/buff silkies and some ancona ducks. I already have some easter eggers, Ameracaunas and marans in my incubator lol
Quote: speaking of dead eggs.... remember I said how hot to the touch the duck eggs were? well I have almost all blood rings! two embryos that I can see and one I think is a blood ring but not sure, the others dead very tiny little dots. sniffles... dang weather now its beautiful out lol cant win!

Saturday the herding place is hosting herding trials, so no lesson for another week. Mandarins might have to wait until next spring, don't want to have to take care of little ducklings, have other things to do in the summer. Nothing too fun, yard work or watch it rain.
oh what a life
I go into lockdown today. I tryed to just set my polish eggs and my faryoumi eggs because I can't really tell the difference. I want half polish babies. The dad is an orp.
I have 5 ee crosses under my broody. She will lockdown today also. My broody is a golden campine.

The all flock feed should be ok, is protein 20% or more?
You almost sound like Sally, complaining about your internet.
Glad you are feeling better.
hey now!!! I wont complain anymore, you can just assume I have no internet sticks out tongue in words because emotis are not available BECAUSE OF SUCKISH INTERNET
My god I'm absolutely nuts. I can't stop buying eggs. I don't know what is wrong with me but I just couldn't resist. I am seriously mental and soon you all are going to see me on one of those episodes of snapped except it will be my husband who murdered me for buying so many chicken eggs lmao
I couldn't find the chick waterer, and I was running around trying to get the brooder for the hatched chicks and the keets set up, so I gave henny penny and her chick a 1gal water tub, (tall enough hennypenny can barely reach it to drink) assuming the chick was still weak and would just eat the wet FF on the ground, and not even attempt to fly up and drink. I was wrong.
She drowned.
I feel beyond terrible I didn't make it #1 priority to get a PROPER waterer.
Hey everyone, just got back from camping and we can't find our ducks. Not so much as a feather. But on another note my serama is bloody with 2 eggs under her. I don't know if they are fertile cuz my too is only 4 months.
Good morning all! I just locked down a bunch of eggs. I have some Maran eggs, some Ayem Cemani, some Frizzled EE's, some Olive Eggers, some Silkies, and a BUNCH of my back yard mix eggs.
Last night I cleaned out my Incuview that I used as a hatching incubator and set it up, but I thought my eggs were only on day 17. so I went to my friends house. This morning, when I checked my trusty hatch a batch app - it told me that my day 19 started at 9:00 THIS MORNING. So, I ran home and had some help getting the eggs out of the 1st Brinsea and moved 51 of 65 eggs over to the Incuview and it was FULL!!!!!
I started to leave for work, but checked my notes one more time and realized I had put 30 eggs in the 2nd Brinsea. I strugged (no help) getting one tray out of the 2nd Brinsea. Those incubators are not user friendly!!!! 19 of those 30 eggs were good. I had no room in the Incuview. So,QUICKLY got the first Brinsea set up for hatching, and set those 19. Since the Incuview was SO crowded, I pulled 10 eggs from there and put those in the new hatching Brinsea.
So, I believe I have 70 eggs in lock down. There were 4 that I was unsure of, but I left them in, just in case. The ones I pulled were positively clear.
So I'm just curious, how does everyone here find homes for the chicks they decide not to keep? Do ya'll sell them? Give them away? I know I'm not going to keep all the ones I hatch. Most people local eat them but we are vegetarians lol so that won't work...

Thanks sally, it has been a horrid week for flock related things. When it rains, it pours..... Hopefully the clouds have poured themselves out by now. I'm starting to be worried when I enter the coop for fear I might find more chickens dead! :/

Have any of you ever butchered Serama roosters? Seramas are so small that I feel like there would be no meat, but I have so many that no one wants that I think I might have to start. Is it worth it or not!
@Sally Sunshine
I cant with kiddo here, I know Jerry Shlex eats his all the time, like bucket fulls of them. look like cornish hens but smaller, not sure its worth just one though sweets. can you gift him>'
Quote: husband does, I cant stand the cry baby stuff they show at times, why do they have to even add stuff about their history and loosing this person or that person. just sing dangit!!
Okay, I got the tape stuff for hawk prevention, I could only find caution tape.... Sure hope the hawks can read!
It was really funny to watch the chickens follow me while I strung it across the run. They wore a look on their lil faces of a mix of fascination and fear, carefully watching it to make sure it didn't eat them, while desperately wanting to know if it tasted good. Except Lucky. He marched right up and grabbed the end and tried to eat it while I had the end trailing. Typical rooster!
I also finished and filled the duck pond. They LOVE it!
