Ok, I have wiped the lid about 6 times now. All 3 hygrometers are reading 99%.....how is that possible????????

The chicks are all sopping wet. But, I have 2 more zipping, and a bunch more pips.

The last time I wiped the lid, I decided to clear out a few of the shells to see if I could see anything in those. I grabbed a shell, and one of the just hatched chicks is still connected via a VERY thick umbilical cord. I just dropped the shell back in. Will that dry up and fall off, with 99% humidity?

The Brinsea has fewer eggs, but 3 just hatched and it's humidity is up to 80%. I had to open it, to help a Maran chick that has been zipping for the past 3 hours. That dropped the humidity to 77.

I'm usually struggling to keep the humidity up, not worrying about how high it is.

Should I take the chicks out if they are all still so wet?
If your brooder is ready grab them out and wipe them dry as best as you can and keep under the light, they will be fine without drafts!

I would just keep trying and see what happens tomorrow, temps are low ?

I was just going to drop them in with the bantams that hatched last week. They have a mama brooder blanket. So, it's warm, but they are going to get run over. So, I'm setting up another brooder - It's not warm enough yet. So, they have to stay a little longer.

I took a paper towel, made a pocket. I poured some salt and some rice into it. I wrapped it up and taped it closed then dropped it in. I moved all the eggs away from it. I'm hoping that will dry things up a bit.

Congrats on the 2 that hatched!!

@Sally Sunshine On the finches...here are photos of mine. They are a dark brown and white, and a light brown and white, four of them.

I don't raise them, they just have them! It's so cute how they take turns on the nest, and when one comes out for a break, it flies all over. Have to have a large cage for them, they can move.

I'm going to be getting some duck eggs at the end of the month and this will be my first attempt at incubating duck eggs. When I hatch dark green, blue, or brown chicken eggs I always run the bator at a lower humidty so they loose enough weight. Does the same apply for colored duck eggs?

First pip!

I did nothing different..in fact I messed with these eggs the least of any hatch. I did a dry incubation.

Woohoo! Congrats! Are you crazy like me ... I talked to my eggs about this time when I hatched eggs two years ago. I couldn't resist! One of them was peeping to me :th :love

That is SO not cool! :smack
I need to arrange stealing them :D

You gotta find me first :D

And SURELY team ducknapper wouldn't turn against me.... Right??? I was a founding member! (I still want cricket)
