Quote: @Jessimom How did it go with them? hope I run into an update as I readback! congrats!! wonder why its holding humidity so bad? is it raining outside?

@Sally Sunshine On the finches...here are photos of mine. They are a dark brown and white, and a light brown and white, four of them.

I don't raise them, they just have them! It's so cute how they take turns on the nest, and when one comes out for a break, it flies all over. Have to have a large cage for them, they can move.
ohhhh how cute! must not show HarmonyAnn this! lol

I'm going to be getting some duck eggs at the end of the month and this will be my first attempt at incubating duck eggs. When I hatch dark green, blue, or brown chicken eggs I always run the bator at a lower humidty so they loose enough weight. Does the same apply for colored duck eggs?
yes, but remember what I said about candling, you can candle here and there after day 7-10 to keep a closer eye on them. This helps you to loose the best weight for the duration just not at the end of incubation.

First pip!
OHHHHHHH I hope I see more updates!!! yay!!!

Quote: how was the humidity in the home during incubation? has it been rainy humid out more so than your previous batch? @h2oratt

Ok, so I consolidated all the brewing eggs into 1 'bator. I took my LG, removed the turner, threw in some shelf liner and moved 12 of the wet chicks over to dry. That immediately dropped my humidity to 92. I left 8 or 9 of the most recent hatches in the wet bator, and watched a zipper struggle to pop open. There are several pips and quite a few eggs that aren't doing much of anything.

The Brinsea seems to have just 1 or 2 pips. Nothing exciting. Humidity is staying right around 81.

I checked the last few shells that hatched, and there is quite a bit of stuff still in there.
are you sure your hygro didnt get water logged? very odd I say something else was going on

Do people who sell fertile eggs send you extra to help feed your addiction even more? I need to buy another bator but I really don't need three.
LOL I can tell you what I do.... I add a few brahma eggs or serama almost every chick that hatches, that person wants those eggs then. I dont think people realize how sweet and beautiful the gentle giants are and how cute sweet and little the serama are! And if someone comes for chicks I always add a brahma for them and evertime they call back in a month or two and want more chicks. tricky aint it!

Quote: HA HA HA you need to have a chick sale so you can incubate more and more!! send them to auction !

Quote: @NaJoBeLe your very welcome, it will help you decide what the best coloring roosters to have over what hens. It helped greatly with our brahma here and pretty simple to comprehend compared to some of the charts and guides lol.

Did you posted your post befor or after you ate your Hamburger( or a chicken, or bacon or fish or whatever )? Is eating hamburgers make you evil? Don't think so!
Turkey buzzards ARE EVIL! I was hanging wash as a kid and one came crashing through the trees and tried to attack me, I ducked and it hit the washline and landed a few feet away. I will never forget that face a foot away from my head coming at me so nasty ugly, never! I have no clue what its problem was either! evil I tell you evil!!

Good morning Crew!
I got to head up pretty soon and help tear down and clean up after the cancer walk.....hope everyone has a great Saturday.
I know for some of us money can be tight but it's always a good thing to at least give a little to charity...even small amounts can help....and I'm a big believer in karma....my thing is the American Cancer Society....but I always give to the bell ringers and others.
Even just an occasional dollar helps....and I think it always comes back ten fold....just food for thought friends.....have a great weekend.
Enjoy your weekend Phil!
