they may have thought that you were the predator coming back when you kept checking on them and therefore abandoned the nest.

yes I have a like five broody right now.but no I didn't look in on the nest for about a week

i would check to see how far along it is and put it under a broody with eggs that are not as far along so that they hatch at the same time.
What i was saying about checking on them, was that it sounded like you had checked on them many times today
