Actually, you can still lime the run if you want; just broadcast on top of the ground with a coffee can ( I know you have one of those) or a pair of rubber gloves, or both.
Why would lime help with fragrance? Is it dangerous to the chickens? I am shuffling chickens around, and I'd love to till the empty run while there are no chickens there. How much do you put in?Too late to worry about it now, I guess, but did you turn any lime into the run when you tilled it?
She likes to smack me.....shhh...don't tell her how much I enjoy itLMBO @MC&kw
Quote: I don't know why; it just does. It didn't bother my birds when I spread it; they acted like it wasn't even there. We used to use it to spread in dog runs before we poured a concrete pad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!Lol- love the picture! We had a graduation party to get to last night otberwise he would've been gone then, yes. I kicked him to the wall so he could think about things for a bit (did mention I played soccer at U.S.C.?)... My resident lynchman, our neighbor, is on his way over now. Big Handsome also sealed his fate with his 4:15am wake up call this morning... Not cool. It's my birthday.![]()

I'm paying attention here - I know whenever I get the goats I am supposed to lime the dirt floor of their pen periodically. Where does one get lime? Feed store?
Let us know how it goes, MC!

I'm heading out to get some outside chores done. I'm sure I'll be back shortly to take a break form the heat - it's early in the hot weather season here (later than normal), and I'm not as acclimated yet. (Won't be a problem in August...)
