How warm is the brooder? Do you have electrolytes? (Home made recipe link on page one in the notes), has it been drinking?

LISA wrap the chick in a clean wash cloth, make sure it's breathing freely. Take a seat on the ground&cuddle it under your chin. (no turtle neck) this is the softest warmest place you can put a weak chick to avoid drastic measures. Usually after a nap they perk right up. If YOU fall asleep the chicks low enough to the ground it won't suffer internal injuries if it falls. (can u text with one hand/mobil?) could be a long night. You gotta love that chick like nobody's business.

he is dead now I don't know what went wrong. he hatched first around 11am he pipped last night before midnight everything went as planned and he was happy and healthy chirping and looking around walking fine then he went limp

It was nice today, but we are warming up this weekend. Expecting 110 on Monday

You'll have to take a number; get to you ASAP
Wouldn't it be nice if we could beam ourselves to each others places and help build fences and coops? We'd get a lot done in no time.

Agree. Two years ago we had apple blossoms in the fall next to the apples from season. Weird then the trees missed the next season. Argh.
It was a very mild winter here and then we had several hard freezes in April after all the fruit had bloomed. Lost every piece of fruit.

I had a hen named Omar. It confused everyone!!
I have a hen named '12'. Confuses me too. I usually reserve #s 1-20 for roosters.

Firstly, sometimes they just don't make it.
Is this your first time raising chicks?
How big is your brooder? Is it big enough to have a warm spot and lots of cool space?
What are you using for a heat source?
Some vitamins in the water may help. A couple drops of Poly-vi-sol without iron works.

We beat you it was 78 and very humid here. 9:30 and 84 now humid enough to defeat drying after a shower

We just hit 89 at close to 10:30PM. Still 60% humidity. I was out setting traps and moving hoses. It is stifling in the coops and I'm soaking wet.

Agree, they sleep a lot the first couple days so it may be nothing.

We are at 84 with 75% humidity. I am a bit worried about the birds in my big coop. I'm debating taking out a fan.
