How goes it?

I set a box trap and a duke dog proof raccoon trap last night. Both were sprung with no animal contained.

I was remiss and didn't use my game cam. I will tonight.

Every new building gets bigger windows than the one before. My last 2 buildings basically have 1/3 of both the east and west wall open. The breeze blows right through at roost height - year round.
I think your issue is that you prepared for winter when summer is harder for chickens than cold.

Works for me. I just was worried about predators (if it would be secure enough).

I don't think you do. At least not enough.

Cut the welded wire 1.5" x 2" larger than the opening. Use self-tapping screws w/large washers near the crosspieces of the wire, if all that makes any sense. That should hold it, even if it ain't so pretty.

Works for me. I just was worried about predators (if it would be secure enough).

In the framing department there are galvanized straps up to 18" long with holes for screws. I used those around some windows.
These aren't them but if you browse around that department you'll find them.

Good morning ChickenCanoe. Chaos18, and littlelakePhil, motorcyclechick.
You are right I made so water did not freeze in the winter, but not enough cwindows or vents to open for summer, or rather not enough on the side that gets winds.
Phil, I wish we could split the difference. I can sleep, but don't have enough time off work. (13+ yesterday and the day before) after chores, whereas you have time, but can't sleep.
