Just be careful, you're usually ok as long as there isn't any blood. If you see blood stop and let it clot before moving on.OK, so let me make sure I got this right before I actually do it: put a hot damp rag in - to increase humidity? Take the egg out. I didn't mark the air cell before; should I do it now before assisting? Then, break away at the shell above the air cell line. Do I tear the membrane along with the shell or let the chick do that? Then, moisten the membrane and put it back in the bator.
Thank you![]()
i would take the top off, and moisten the membrane, make sure the beak is near an ope part of the membrane, other wise open the membrane some moreOK, so let me make sure I got this right before I actually do it: put a hot damp rag in - to increase humidity? Alright, thanks!
Okay. (deep breath.) I have never helped a chick before. Do I finish the zipping for it, or just go part way and see if it can do the rest?

I've had to do a few assists, one was this morning for a chick that had gotten the membranes around it's face and wing sort of stuck but everything else was fine it was very simple but it is always anxiety inducing. You'll be ok though, just keep an eye on the chick getting warm and dry
Thanks so much, both of you, for your advice! I just did it, and it was alot easier than I had anticipated! One problem, though. It has this thing ..... here's a pic:i would take the top off, and moisten the membrane, make sure the beak is near an ope part of the membrane, other wise open the membrane some more
then put it back so it can push out on its own
it will dry up and fall of, normally that is left in the eggThanks so much, both of you, for your advice! I just did it, and it was alot easier than I had anticipated! One problem, though. It has this thing ..... here's a pic:
Looking at the inside of the shell, I think it was ready to come out, but what is this?
The other one had the same thing, but no blood, and it just fell off. Will this one fall off too, or should I do something? How do I stop the bleeding?
K, thanks!it will dry up and fall of, normally that is left in the egg
how do you stop bleeding on you, let it clot

I am not sure you fully know a pip from zip so just take shell away from pip area little by little and if you see blood stop PICS ALWAYS HELP US HELP YOU!!
If you are CERTAIN its zipping and you have not helped it at all I just pull it open at the zip, but you should be be more cautious again as I am not sure your are fully aware pip or zip. But you will do fine following above
