Good night MC!

I have never canned anything, and I still get up several times a night when I have chickies hatching.... I've hatched hundreds of chicks. It doesn't get old!! I don't panic when one is slow to zip. I don't help struggling ones anymore. I think I have close to 200 babies and adults running around my yard right now....or settling in for the night. The rest of my family and my BF think I'm nuts. They don't understand chicken math.

I've lived on both coasts, I prefer the west coast to the east for climate. I still have family on the east coast, so I do go visit, but that's enough for me. I like being able to go to the beach in the morning, and heading to the local mountains to go night skiing in the winter. In the summer, it gets a bit warm, but I can have a garden year round. I'd take an earthquake over a tornado any day. The absolute worst thing about living here is politics. I'm woefully outnumbered.

But the one thing I learned is that there is some impressive scenery in every state.

Well, I think it's dark enough for me to go candle my eggs and move them to lock down!!

Happy Hatching everyone!
200!

Compared to my 3 adults and 4 (soon to be 5) babies!

Tornadoes? No tornadoes here! The temps are the real problem. In the summer it can get deathly hot and in the winter it's frigid!

In a word, NO
But you don't understand the extreme joys of putting on your body weight's worth of clothes including a scarf that half-smothers you but you can't take it off b/c your nose will freeze and fall off! It's great!

AWWWWWW This shows you that it is way more useful to be a kitten than it is to be a puppy!!!

I still like puppies better.

I just locked down some eggs. The silkie eggs that my family took away from my broody - 5 of the 6 were infertile. The one that was fertile, sure appears to be ready to hatch - it was chirping. We have no idea how long those eggs had been incubated under the broody. I guess we found out! 7 of the 23 backyard mix I set were also infertile or obviously not still viable.

I have 1 that is questionable and 15 that looked good. Hopefully I'll wake up to at least 1 chick!

OK I am confused, who is Benny? Y'all know nicknames or real names for each other and I have yet to learn those. Bit of an info overload I have going with work and school so I have moments now that it takes longer to sink in. Been getting training on a lathe the past few days and then taught to grind my own cutting tools. Really hope my brain doesn't get overwhelmed.
There should be a special thread just for all the names/nicknames!

This is why I try and smile all the time. It does actually work!
Interesting. But whenever I try to smile all the time my mouth just hurts.

good morning!!

we have a new multi quoter!! I wonder where she learned it, musta been sally
lol

Hi, sorry to gate crash this thread but I wondered if anyone had any advice... I recieved my duck eggs after being shipped yesterday I rested them for 24 hours, I candles them and some appeared to have detached air cells, I don't think they are completely detached as I can't move them right round the egg but they move around the darker area. Should I incubate them and not turn them for a few days?
