Well, I guess it's that time that I shower and become human again before you all can start smelling me on the east coast. Be back later.
i was wondering what that was....

Stop calling yourself old! We are too close in age!
I must really not have a life. I did keep up in both threads when I was still involved in that one.
Yes ma'am.

we bought a motorhome this year and there are a yhousand places within an hour from home to camp, our favorite is in north Idaho. Here is momma and her two littles. I have another serama sitting on one egg due some time this week.

I absolutely LOVE camping! We built a pop-up a few years back that we can take off grid with the Jeep, so much fun! I told my husband if we ever get an 'RV', it will be this:

SOOOOO

I am thinking about CONTESTS

What if we run a Mini CONTEST Fun NIGHT? Like I did for the Easter HAL several years ago?

WE WILL NEED DONATIONS! We can run it right here in the thread, and pick a date most can make it.
what kind of a contest was this sally?? any more details? I am sure many of us were not here for it

I have some strips of metal roofing leftover from a project, I was going to put that on the top and use a tarp too, just in case water decides to get through somehow.
I love using stuff we have left over, or from projects that never got started. I had hard plastic type sheeting I was going to make a small green house from. It's molded plastic. One nestles right into the next, so I have them on top of my silkie pen - which is chainlink My house in on a big lot and the property was abandoned for 10 plus years. There was an old chicken coop in a small chain link box. We found out the last resident was a pig. We've expanded that box, but we have dark screen material and the plastic forms on top of the original box, but tarps over some of the added sections. They sleep at night inside the original box and it stays nice and dry.

I understand both of your points of view. But here's my take on camping.

I've always been a wilderness camper, either backpacking or canoeing. All my camping gear is based on backpacking - tents, stoves, et. al..
IMHO, you can't access wilderness by road.
I'm not a fan of crowds when I want to enjoy wilderness. It isn't wilderness with a lot of people around. I want to see wildlife, not people.
I was shocked when I lived in Germany at what they call campgrounds. There's an area along a nice river with what resembles an RV dealer parking lot and a forest of TV antennas. I'd sneer at them as I'd hike by.

My father-in-law tried to talk me into buying a camper for years till I finally told him, it won't fit in my canoe.

If I want to travel and have comfort, there are hotels and rental homes for that.
That's just the way I look at it.
We had a trailer that we kept stored up at Ossipee Lake, NH and we would spend most of the summer up there. My dad would come up on weekends. That trailer is what we used when we drove cross country a couple of times when I was a teen. Now, I have tents (multiple) and a truck with a camper shell. With a special needs child I felt safer sleeping in a vehicle that was more secure than a tent would be. I only camp with my daughter, and she only likes the beach. Not too many bears around there, so I keep all our food and toys in 1 tent, our clothes in another. And our bed is in the truck. It's just big enough for the two of us.

Ok, an update on the lock down eggs....when I checked them at 5 am, nothing. When I checked again as I was heading out the door at 7:30, we had 5 pips and 1 JUST starting to zip. The zipping egg is the one that was chirping when I put them into lockdown. It's the silkie egg that we took from a community nesting box and had no idea what day it was on. It also survived 30 minutes in a basket, in 110 degree weather before I found out someone had taken the eggs from the broody. The other 5 looked infertile. i"ll crack them tonight when I get home.

The house is empty until noon, so I have 2 hours to wait for an update.

WHERE ARE YOU?!?!

You rang?

I'm here...barely. Way to busy and rather stressed. My extremely insightful boss has told me that I don't have stress in my life. I need to refer to it as excitement. He has a beautiful attitude that I need to adopt some of....So...I am having an exciting time. I little less excitement would be good though.

Had a horse with colic yesterday. Had a horse return from AZ, picked up my stallion from the breeding farm where he's been for two months, and inherited another mini horse. I was totally at my limit with horse numbers before these came in. Then I complain and one gets sick, then I'm afraid I'll lose one....

I'm a crazy bird lady and horse lady.

I have chicken and duck news, but want to include pictures, so I'll have to do it later. No cell phone service here, so I don't have a smart phone.....have to do things the slower way. Camera and computer.

Miss you all! Talk later.
