I paint the inside of all my buildings with a thick coat of either oil paint or high gloss latex.
I originally only painted the bottom 2' of wall. The point is that at least once a year, I completely empty buildings and pressure wash them. Without paint, that water would penetrate the wood.

I use white because I can tell how clean or dirty it is when I scrape and wash.

It makes it easier to remove all dust and disinfect what would be in crevices and imperfections in the wood.
Even if I don't pressure wash, most dust gets removed with the shop vac.

The outside gets soaked but not the inside.

I do that too. They've raised the price on those cans though.

I think I've fallen asleep in mine before. Good thing the chickens were fed.

Don't you have children?

I only lost 1.

It rained here for about 30 hours and it was so foggy, you couldn't see the fireworks.
I only got about 2" of rain but it never stopped so I got zero work done outside yesterday. It was hit and miss on how strong the storms were. Not far from me, they got 7".

How old is the rooster in that pen?

I had an egg due yesterday about this time. It pipped on time but was only partially zipped when I went to bed. I took the chick out this morning. It's leg, beak and feather color were nearly perfect - and it came from a dark egg.
In a bit, I'm going to put it in with 3 chicks that hatched a week ago.
I dump them out of the traps by water.

Did you see the tag from kwhites634 about if I should try to candle to check for bad eggs, or trust the broody who is from my Dec. hatch,?

Duckling is my niece... Until I divorce her uncle.
She is with her real family today. I will get her tonight.

You dump the animal alive or dead? What kind of predator?

Trust the broody. If it is a stinker, she'll probably kick it out. I never candle broody eggs. That's just me though. I prefer to let them remain in their trance undisturbed - as nature intended.

You are so kind. Good for you.
I'm not sure I get the picture but that's OK.

I only lost one pound since last weigh in.

@ChickenCanoe Happy Independence Day!
Same to you.
I'm working around here, the rest of the family is working all day today. Restaurant business.
We did our barbecue feast yesterday. I told my wife to let me check the radar for when there would be a break in the weather. She said, "I'm barbecuing regardless".
So she stood in the rain with an umbrella at the pit.
Homemade potato salad, made from scratch macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs, vegetable/chicken kabobs, pork steaks and brats.
I should have taken a picture. I'm having leftovers today.

Morning and Happy 4th to all!

Still no new hatched chicks, dang it.

Yoke sac chick passed last night.
So sorry!
