Hello! Never heard of the Benadryl thing. Try putting a shirt on her, but make it tight some so it hugs her chest. That is supposed to help. Fireworks here as well but our dog and chickens are use to gun fire so the 4th doesn't faze them. Good luck with yours!

I live up on a hill, and can see this whole side of the valley. Seems like the entire valley is STILL firing them off. I gave her the benedryl, tried the shirt, but she is still panicking. Next year I'm going to get something from my vet. This is her 2nd 4th, but New Year is almost as bad. So, I should have a game plan before the excitement starts.

I love Jersey Giants. I've had all 3 varieties. I got my Blacks from Cackle and my Whites and Blues from Sandhill Preservation.
I'd raise them if I had more space and time.

My animal behavior friend said to give them the amino acid L-theonine.

My son and his friends were just shooting off some fireworks in the backyard. It has been so wet there is no danger. We have had years in the past when they were banned because of drought.

We are SO dry!! We have fires burning all around us. We've had drought conditions for 4 or 5 years now. I don't understand why people take the chances around here.

T-minus twenty days until our trip to Texas. Looking at some of the Miller Manufacturing plastic nesting boxes to bring back for the eventual build. Anyone use these before?

Not me. I've always built my own. It's not that hard. I'm considering a couple roll out nests.

I mostly want them because we have a mite issue and mites can't nest on plastic. Our current ones are wood and they are mite magnets, especially in our wet climate.

There really is "No place like home" I was born in D.C., but we quickly relocated to MD, where I grew up. As a young adult, I couldn't wait to get out of MD. I eventually took a transfer to northern NJ. We were only there for 18 months before we came back to MD so my DW could be with her recently widowed mother. By that time I'd had all I wanted of NJ; entirely too close to NYC for my liking.. MD suddenly looked pretty good by comparison, and we've been here ever since; I don't expect we'll ever leave again, although I hate the liberal laws and politics.
