I went outside to get some work done on the turkey pen. I was hoping for the entire thing to get done, but any work would have been better than none.
I could not find my zip ties, so went out anyway to see what I could figure out/plan.
It was then that I remembered the second thing I needed to go outside for. :he I do not know how I forgot about the garden needing more work. I began pulling some grass, then took a bunch of pictures to show you guys. I was hoping someone could give me an idea of how I was supposed to get the grass out of between the plants. I decided to do some more work so that the plants could at least be identified. Before I knew it, the garden looked pretty good. :thumbsup

Way Togo!!! It took me twenty minutes to talk myself into vacuuming.

Can you give me tips on getting grass out of the garden anyway?
I normally get down on all fours, and pull them as close to the ground as possible, hoping to get the roots at the same time. Rough on the back, but it gets the job done

is a domiques chicken any good at eggs
If you mean are Dominiques productive or lay good size eggs, yes they are good at eggs.
230-275 medium to large eggs per year.
They are also a good meat bird and good foragers. They are listed on the RAFT Slow Food Ark of Taste.

Probably more than we know or should expect.

That should about cover it!
I do not remember what you had asked me earlier, so I will do my best to answer everything right now.
First, thank you for the compliment about Duckling. You have no idea what that meant to me.

Yeah, I can't remember what I had to answer. Oh! I do not know what color egg the father came from. These chickens come from a long line of broody hens. There is no way to know who came from what egg.

I thought that was beer holder?
I wish I had your backbone. I could be so much happier.
If you don't know what color egg he came from, all bets are off.
I try to give each broody all the same color eggs.

Caring for a child as you do is a tough thankless job except for the joy it brings you.

I felt like they would be okay, just never know how secure things really are. My 7 acres are completely enclosed with a 6 foot fence and an additional foot of barbed wire at the top. I mostly worry about hawks when they are out free ranging. My dogs handle the perimeter of the woods. I did worry about something digging in while we were out of town, but glad there were no problems! That would have been sad to come home to find.
Good plan. Do your dogs roam inside or outside the 6' fence.
I need to work on my perimeter. It is all brush and good hiding places for ground dwelling predators.

Lunch is leftover sushi from last night's late dinner. And a beer.
The dipping sauce is low sodium gluten free organic Tamari.

Hey! What did I ever do to you?

It took me about three days to talk myself into vacuuming yesterday! :lau
If you knew how afraid of worms I am, you would understand how amazing it is that I actually got anything done in the garden! I prefer snakes over worms. Worms are known to crawl into your shoes and hair and shirts and mouth... They will kill you!!! I don't really like garter snakes either. I like the ball pythons and boa constrictors.

Well you are not suppose to put them in your hair and shoes and shirt. Silly!!! And you only eat them when nobody likes you and everybody hates you. So you are free and clear!!!

My dogs are inside the fence and beyond the fence is just more woods. I have 3 big dogs (a Boxer, a Blue Tick, and a German Shepherd mix) who are great at keeping uninvited guests out (the 2 legged variety too! HAHA!).
