Quail are due the 24th of July I think. Haven't candled them since they are so small. They are fertile though, the males are busy fellers.

Howdy! I don't have a tire swing yet but I have a great chicken observation space now. Will post shortly

It is something I enjoy doing. It provides my family with meat and I get to spend time in the outdoors.

Yes they do! They have calmed down alot since the male died. Figures,my view is if it has testiclesome or a transmission, it's going to cause you some stress. SORRY TO ALL GUYS WHO READ THAT BUT I HAVE TWO AT HOME WHO DRIVE ME NUTS!

Lol, no human males and now 4 male chickens hope for a 5th. Two male quail.

I am right there with ya. I get on the table at octoberfest to see the polka band.Rest of the girls with me are close to 6 ft tall and I am 5'2".

I never paint my nails.. Worked too long in food service where it is a no no. My boys always tell me they don't like it when girls pain their nails so I figure I'm not missing much.

you arent missing anything, we did them on sunday and it is almost gone, so maybe a couple more days

Yes, I have a duck with leg problems.
Quackers died this a.m. and Jesse is limping, but otherwise acting normal, so I'm assuming this is a niacin deficiency? Quackers was walking backwards sometimes on the first day I noticed her acting weird but after that was just .... I can't think of the right word to describe it ... lazy, I guess, but in a sick way. She would rest before going on with the others and, most of the time, was in the back of the line, struggling to keep up. She was resting/hiding in the daylily bush when I put the ducks in last night. I rarely saw her eating while she was sick, but she didn't look thin to me. I don't know if she had a niacin deficiency or not. I would bring her to the vet for a necropsy, but I just can't. I should have taken her to the vet before, but I thought it was only a niacin deficiency and she would be ok.
On the up side, I am finally getting purina flock raiser today. I am going to do some research to try to find out what Quackers had. If I see another duck acting like she did, they will go to the vet asap .... as long as he does ducks.

I miss my Quackburd so much. I don't think I'll ever change my avatar, unless it's to another picture of Quackers. I almost feel like changing my username, but I can only change it once, so I don't know about that. Poor little Quackers. I hope animals go to Heaven.
