My chick that pipped at the wrong end yesterday and had made no progress by this morning just popped out.
Now some of its siblings are pipping.

That's what I use after the first few days. I usually use paper towels at first. My chicks did try to eat the shavings initially, so I put multiple feeders in and made sure they knew where the feed was.
I use pine. I watch them, and add paper towels if they are idiots.

They pulled the tag off of my feed bag, and they told me that their house brand scratch was the exact same thing as Purina, then got upset when I returned the bags because they were junk. There's more, but those are the most recent bad experiences.

I bought Frontline today. They forgot to put it in the bag. The kid was tossing my stuff around, over charged me, and didn't bag half my stuff.

MINIMUM STRESS! = Good and complete food Good and clean water Big space Minimum flock member changing ( all in and all out policy ) Minimum connection with dogs, cats, little children Minimum handeling Extra vitamins and electrolytes in extreme weather Extra probiotics = the best in my opinion fermenter feed Un filterd ACV in the water. A lot of greens and vegetables Some exte materials that keep the parasites at bay - for me hot paprika And imidiat treatment of any disease
Thanks! How much hot paprika do you put in their feed? I think you've said before, but I forgot. How does fermented feed help?
I caught a dogfish with my new net! :weee
LOL
3.5 once for 22 pounds of feed The fermentation of the feed is made by a group of Bacteria that do lactic fermentaion, which is different than the Ethanol fermentation in wine that is made by yeasts. This bacteria, especially the lactobacilus genus, is part of the microbiom that are the trilion bacteria and other, thst live in and on the chicken (or human!) And help preventing disease by producing vitamins, and preventing establishment of Pathogens. In fact fermented feed is acting like daily dose of probiotics .

One time I bought a bag of Flock Raiser, but failed to look at the date code. They got all ticked off when I returned it because I was nothing but mold and over 6 months old!
