Okay, took off a teeny bit of shell, but am not sure it is completely ready down lower than its beak & surrounding membrane that has been exposed to air. I put triple antibiotic ointment on the external membrane and a wet papertowel around it. Its beak is in a normal position, and as far as I can tell its head is under its wing. I suspect humidity got wayyy too low.
I'm recalibrating my hygro before next hatch, because I don't think it is accurate anymore.
I think it will be okay. I was mostly worried about malpositioning, because I lost so many to the head not under wing malpo last time, but it appears to be normal. I think it should get out by itself now!![]()

Whatever I do, I am NOT, I repeat NOT, going to end up with a chick that has unabsorbed yolk. I am not doing that again. Never ever, nuh uh. Not if I can help it!

Hmm! I wonder if wet chicks are sitting on the hygro and getting it wet, thereby knocking out outa whack for a bit. Then it dries out and is accurate until the next one hatches.

Hard root beer float.

lol!! Chicken poop is the BEST as far as I'm concernedI was reading an email about the safety of food. There was a part about vegetables be grown in human waste fertilizer, and said it was "even worse than chicken poop". When did fertilizer become bad?
Awesome hatch.
